Picked up a 1985 Evinrude 4hp and when I got it home and started taking it apart to work on the ignition, the core plug (307588) came out — fell right on the floor.
Looking for advice on replacing it. Do I need to buy a new one? If so, is it like a Welch plug where you wack it in with a socket/punch to seat it? Or can I use the existing plug that fell out with a sealant? (It does NOT stay in place with friction — falls right back out.)
I have some JB Weld and was thinking of coating the outside of the plug and then just setting it back in place...
Appreciate any input someone may have on this!
