We have a 1994 3.0 LX with Gen2. We use it in salt water in Greece.

I changed the riser for a genuine one 5 years ago. The boat only spends 4-6 weeks a year in the sea and is only used for 2-4 weeks in a year.

Would you still replace the riser every 3-4 years in consideration of how little use it gets ?

Thanks
Rake

I would pull the elbow every few years to inspect the elbow and the manifold

do you flush after use? that will extend the life of the elbow and manifold (still inspect every few years)

Thanks, it gets flushed when it comes out of the water every summer when our vacation ends

so salt water is sitting in it for 4-6 weeks per year? then I would expect them to last 5 yrs or so, but as others have mentioned inspect them. At 5 years now I would inspect and be ready to replace.

The 5 year rule of thumb could also be influnced by the local salinity of the water
