I'm switching my trailer and am converting my old load Rite roller trailer to bunks to replace the original trailer that came with my StarCraft 16 foot ss 1973. I've read a lot of conflicting opinions on how far apart to space the bunks on the hull. I figured you guys can set me on the right path. The picture is my boat on the roller trailer it came on and I just want to confirm how far apart do I set the new bunks. Thanks

For a 16’ StarCraft SS, set the bunks under the strongest parts of the hull—ideally along the main stringer/rib areas, not just where the old rollers were. A good starting point is about 60–70% of the flat bottom width apart (center-to-center).

Make sure the bunks support the hull evenly from bow to stern, especially the transom, and avoid putting pressure on the chines or strakes. I’d set them loose, lower the boat on, then adjust until the weight is carried evenly.
