    Fuel gauge sender

Not sure if this is the right place for this, if not please move it. I have a 12gallon scepter portable fuel tank that I would like to set up for a dash mount fuel gauge. I included a stock pic of the tank. What would be the right sender unit to swap onto this tank? Thanks.

Indicator light for bilge pump with built in float switch

I would like to put a dash light in to show when my bilge pump is running. I've found many places that show how to wire one with a separate float switch and that is very simple, the issue I'm having is that my pumps float switch is built in. Does anyone know how to wire a light up for that, or...

    Livewell intake distance from prop

I have finally got ready to start several projects on my boat (got a bunch of 5x8 sheets of 1/8 aluminum dirt cheap) including my livewell, bait well and float pods. I plan to use a TH marine ez pump on the intake to feed the wells. My question is how far away from the prop do I need to keep the...

    6 hp kicker prop suggestions

I have a 1976 Johnson 6hp as a kicker on my 1648 lowe flat bottom. The current prop is a two blade 8x7 1/4. I currently am only getting 4200 rpm at wot. The prop isn't in great shape so I feel like just replacing with a new one just like it may get me closer to the 4500 which is the lower end of...

    Dual location kicker steering

I'm building a push pull steering stick for my kicker to mount on the very front of the deck to use while bowfishing, but I would also like to have steering and throttle control at the console as well to use while actually trolling. Has anyone here built anything like that before?

Prop suggestions for 35 hp on 1648 flatbottom

I have a 1648 lifeline flat bottom with a 1979 johnson 35hp. With 2 people and probably another persons weight worth of gear and console I was only going 21 mph, and I honestly expected more. The other reason I think this may be the wrong prop is I hit 20 mph at around 3/4 throttle and any more...

Adding live well to flat bottom

Im looking to add a livewell to my 1648 flatbottom. I'm trying to figure out the best location for my intake and drain. I've read that straight out the back like the drain plug is common for the intake, but I've also read that can cause issues with losing prime on the pump while on plane. I...

Adding electric start to 1976 6hp

Title says it all. I have a 1976 Johnson long shaft 6 up that I plan to use for a kicker. I would like to add electric start to it. From what I can tell there is no factory option for electric start on this motor but I wouldn't mine doing a bit of creative work to make a different starter work...

    can't find my serial number

I'm working on a mariner for a friend of mine and can't find the serial number I'm finding listed in any parts list. The number on the plug in the block is 578877. On the plate on the bracket it has 6a3 printed and the 558877 cut in. The hood says its a 50, but its only a 2 cylinder, but I'm not...

1968 evinrude 18 HP wear in block

I had a problem with this motor breaking starters due to vertical movement of the flywheel. I finally opened the block up and somehow the center crank bearing has worn a groove under it. Is there any way to fix this by having a spacer machined to fit the groove or do I need a whole new powerhead?

flywheel movement 1968 evinrude 18 hp

I have a 68 18 HP evinrude and the flywheel has quite a bit of up and down movement to it. Its tight on the shaft its the whole shat that is moving and it's moving enough that it's broke the legs off of two starters. I just got a copy of the factory service manual, but it just shows how it all...

Which manual do I need for this job 1968 evinrude 18 hp

I have a 1968 18hp evinrude that keeps breaking starters. It turns out that the flywheel is moving up and down, and from what I've read on some other posts that is most likely due to some bearings that need replaced in the motor. I have no idea what exactly needs to be done, so I'm planning to...

    effect of trim on speed

I have a 16 foot lonestar mod v aluminum boat, with an 1968 18 horse evinrude on it. According to the formulas I've found for determining prop slip the theoretical top speed for this motor is a little over 24 mph. I'm only getting about 17 out of it. I also read that 10 percent slip is a...

check valve in fuel pump sticking open

I have a 1968 evinrude 18 hp. Last time I took it out, it wouldn't start. I finally figured out the problem was in the fuel pump. I took the pump loose from the block, and checked the diaphram, and it was ok. I took it apart, and it turns out the check valve in the plate on the bottom is...
