    78 25 hp kicking out of gear

    i have a 25hp evinrude that kicks out of gear with a load on it ,so i took the cables off the motor and it still dose the same thing .could this be the clucth in the lower unit ,how hard is it to change .the cable are bad just got the motor it was like this hoping that it was just the cables...

    i have a 78 25 hp 25853c i need a lower unit but don t know .what sizes/yrs will interchange with my motor .help:: the is a long shaft if it matters
