    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Another set of pictures, based on refinements. I've taken some of the center sections of the internal structure pieces out (cut-outs) in order to save some weight. Also found a 3D model of the Suzuki duo-prop outboard. . . . . The bracket will have about 44" of running surface with a...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

It is beneficial on heavier boats. That is why you see many twin engine boats with the Bravo 3 and the Volvo DX series outdrives. Now it looks like the outboards are getting in the game, since many boats that came with I/O are now going outboards.

    Covid!

I got Covid once after the initial vaccines. Fairly mild. . . Got it from an extended family 'super spreader' . Then after the several boosters, I (we) were exposed to another extended family super spreader and neither the Admiral or I got it. The boosters seem to work pretty...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I'll probably price-out 3 engine options. Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki and see how it all compares. In 300 HP options The Merc is a V8, the Yammy and Zuki are V6 In 350 HP options, The Merc is a V10, the Yammy and Zuki are V6 IIRC, The Yammy used to be a V8 in the 350 HP range, but now they have...

Manifolds (Trying to figure out what I am looking at)

The 3" should do the trick. I had to do the same on my Formula 330, when I added the extended swim platform.

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Owner reviews on the Suzuki 300/350 duo-prop outboards seem to be OK. One thing that jumped out when looking at the spec's is that the 350 has 12:1 compression o_O while the 300 has 10.5:1. So, I guess they are getting power from the compression as the blocks are the same displacement (267 Cu...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

The CoG (center of gravity) is going to move about 9" per my calculations. The LOA is going to be about 35' (vs 33') without engines and about 37' with the engines. I have thought about the trailer . . . There will be a lot more hanging off the back beyond the bunks, but it should be fine. I...

    I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Here is an update of the thought process so far, in terms of planning out a conversion to twin outboards. . . My plan is to have the outboard engines beyond the existing swim deck to the point of allowing full-tilt of the outboards and not having to change the swim deck area. Pictorial...

    TD-14 (Hurricane Milton)

My family used to have a place on Captiva Island, and for years it seemed that Gulf storms were a rarity; the west coast of FL being the 'safer' side. That does not seem to be the case recently.

    Bravo 3 Refresh Questions

Same here with the several B3's that I have owned. Big bearings, big gears. It won't spin freely, and as you turn the props (in neutral) you will hear/feel the gears meshing.

Does the antifreeze you use really matter?

A couple of points . . . 1) The rating on the anti-freeze (such as "-50") is a pipe burst rating, which is a plumbing industry rating as to when a copper pipe will burst from freezing. The liquid actually begins to freeze long before reaching the pipe burst rating. -25˚C will be close to the...

Problem Replacing old incandescent NAV lights with LED lights

Sorry to be late to the party, but . . . It sounds like the navigation lights are wired in series when they should be wired in parallel. (I believe this was touched upon) Each light should be getting 12volts from the switch. Perhaps the wiring was changed by a previous owner of the boat...
