Ignition switch does not shut engine off.

Tell us a bit more about your boat. I assume that this is a re-power? I would suspect the wiring at the helm switches is not right, but having a bit more background would help.

    Mercruiser 6.2 - 90amp fuse

Welcome to iBoats . . . Post the serial number of your engine to help with responses, but as stated the fuse should be there. Not sure why a mechanic would remove the fuse. Also not sure why a mechanic would replace the starter. Maybe you need to consult a third mechanic.

    My boat is being a boat . . .

Yes I hope I can get it figured out. It appears that they don't work until they are calibrated. Seems stupid to me . . . They should at least work. I am going to check the wiring in the AM. There is something on VesselView for calibrating the trim senders. Also there is supposed to be a...

    My boat is being a boat . . .

For my next trick I'm going to figure out these SmartCraft Trim Senders. The instruction booklet (yes, 14 pages just to install a trim sender  ) shows using the CDS G3 computer program to calibrate them. However, my weekly allowance does not support the cost of the CDS...

    Revolution 14.6x19P vs 3-B something?

I usually look at both the diameter and the pitch. The # of blades is also a factor. . . Most of the time, you just have to try the prop to see the difference.

    Revolution 14.6x19P vs 3-B something?

AD . . . how are the current props (Rev 4's)? I was never able to save up enough of my weekly allowance to buy a Rev 4, back in my single prop days. One thing of note is that you will be going up in both diameter and pitch with the Enteria you mentioned. Do the engines have the extra...

    1991 California cool

Greetings and welcome to iBoats . . . Not much information on the web about California Cool boats. There is a forum post here on iBoats asking about the brand. They do look like fancy bass boats. You might have to compare them to similar brands/models to get an idea of pricing/value. I don't...

    Fuel sending unit

    (y) Where was it? It would be good to know for anyone in the future having the same issue.

Anchor light lens 2006 Trophy 2103

Welcome to iBoats . . . You might have to buy an entire light. Although it was specified and installed at the factory, it is probably one of the more common marine lighting brands (Aqua Signal, Attwood, SeaDog, etc). See if you can Google search and find one that matches your existing light.

Replacing my brake lines with rubber lines

Hi @Rupp, The title of your thread mentions 'rubber lines'. Not sure if you meant the lines or just the mounting clamps? I think your easiest approach would be to fasten the new brake lines to the frame along the inside perimeter as needed, rather than trying to run them inside the frame. It...

    Cheapest online decal store ?

It has been a while since I bought a decal set. But I recall the 'outboarddecalset.com' site that you show a picture of and there was also 'discontinueddecals.com' and 'outboarddecals.com' You can also find them on eBay. As I recall, 'cheapest' was not what you would call any of them . . ...

    help help help overheating Mecrusier

That one (small) picture does not really show much. If the impeller disintegrated there are probably bits and pieces further along in the cooling system flow. You'll need to find/flush those pieces. There are usually a couple of oil coolers along the intake path before the incoming water gets...

Why does my tandem axle trailer not have a backup solenoid?

If the trailer was previously equipped with what's known as 'free backing' drum brakes than it would not have the lock-out surge brake master cylinder. Since disc brakes are the more common thing with new trailers, they come with the lock-out feature.

    Soak Bearings in Rust Remover?

I am wondering about this porosity thing and salt water exposure. Lots of folks flush their motors after salt water exposure. Does it really matter?

2007 8.1 Gi converted to rear-mount closed cooling

Probably the biggest difference between the half and full systems is the size of the heat exchanger. Not sure how much bigger they are, but the ones on my 454's were the full width of the engine IIRC.

    Soak Bearings in Rust Remover?

This looks worse than what you described . . . I agree with the others. The areas of pitting are where the rust came from. Rust is evidence of removed metal.

2007 8.1 Gi converted to rear-mount closed cooling

I installed the SJE (now Orca) closed cooling kits on my twin 454's about 10 years ago. I agree on the instructions being vague . . . you sort of had to figure things out on your own. So, I guess that short-coming has not changed. It makes these kits a little higher on the 'DIY difficulty...

    New Sailer getting started!

Welcome to iBoats . . . The biggest negative (IMO) is the water ballast design (instead of a traditional weighted keel). Basically, water ballast is a trailering compromise for day (or short-term) launching. The problem is that you have to carry a lot of ballast (water weight) in the hull in...

    Soak Bearings in Rust Remover?

Welcome to iBoats . . . This stuff you mean? . . It is hard to say if it will be good or bad. I'm assuming the outdrive got low on oil and developed the rust? I'd be more concerned about the bearings in the upper gear case. Got any pictures to share?
