    Mercontrol cables

I think I have found a mercruiser specific mercontrol for not a lot of money. Provided it’s good… I ran across an issue now that I put power to the trim pump where 2 of the dash switches don’t work. I’ve found some switches that look similar and I can modify into the panel.. the wires were...

    Mercontrol cables

There is a NOS one on Ebay right now.. still thinking. I’ve verified the control from the parts boat will not fit in the gunnel.. I haven’t found the parts to fix the mercontrol. Some stuff is available and most isn’t. But it doesn’t click into gear until almost full throttle so I’m not even...

Will a Mercruiser 215 control work? Found a couple and they are side mount. But I know the 215 itself is complete NLA

Thoughts on New Gen Direct Injected VP 5.3L v8 350HP?

In the trucks, the DI system is not the problem. What is a problem is the lifters spinning and eating the cams. It’s repairable but 9 times out of ten they replace the engine. Once the cam bearings need replaced its engine time. That said, they run very good.

Swap drives from one boat to another. How many day project?

Yup. That was always the plan. I just figured I would be able to use this parts boat while I worked the kinks out of the StarCraft. The engine that I just put in the StarCraft has been leaking from the rear main and I didn’t know until I pulled it out of the Four Winns it belonged to.. this...

Swap drives from one boat to another. How many day project?

After digging farther into the ‘new’ boat. I’m not putting it on the water. Few things that could be fisherman fixed good enough to make it out. But that’s not me. I’m not sure that the alternator and starter are marine components, but that’s ok as I have those. But the engine runs nice and...

Restoring a trailer vs replacing a trailer

Which would be a nicer trailer to launch with? The Tee Nee model 1600 or a 1988 Shorelandr that currently holds a 1988 Regal Medallion 185? My new engine donors trailer looks really appealing. Previous owner put 2 new tires and wheels on it too, and they are Kenda tires

    online shopping

When I just bought the boat yesterday. The guy told me it was $1,000 and firm on that price. I told him that was fine as long as it was what he said it was. When all was said and done, I happily handed him the cash and toted it home. But he didn’t even try to list it correctly so I was his only...

    online shopping

I was recently looking for a Mercruiser 140 3.0l for an alpha gen 1. Found a guy advertising tons of parts and asked him. Sent me a picture and a video of a 140 from the MC-1 era, running on 3 cylinders. Said good running and he gets $1000 for runners. I told him it wouldn’t work for me without...

    Alpha one gen 2

If your boat is a 2006, it should be an Alpha one gen 2. Unless someone’s done some swapping. SEI has aftermarket drives somewhat inexpensive. A brand new drive is going to be $2,500+.. your local boat mechanic may be able to rebuild a good core

Hard plane after switch from points ignition

Swap drives from one boat to another. How many day project?

Did it again. Couldn’t pass it up. 1988 Regal Medallion 185. Runs perfectly, motor is clean and serviced. surprisingly it’s actually solid. Garage stored and the bilge was totally dry. Interior is partially removed but included. Rough around the edges but it’s seaworthy.. will use it until...

    Lazy alternator

That means it’s not getting power to the exite wire and needs to exite itself. Check for broken wires.. if the boat is new to you someone might have wired it as a 1 wire alt which works like that

    Fresh Mercruiser swap. No power

lol my coworkers test light is just an old bulb socket. Another coworkers is an actual GM certified test light, but the Harbor freight one I have is just as good.. GM calls for test lights quite a bit in circuit testing
