It’s tin, so for that price you can’t go wrong

    68 Offshore restoration

Fwiw. Offshore is built on the larger islander 18’ hull. Do believe it’s a deeper v. the SS and Holidays used a shorter hull so to speak. But this is speculation as I only have been told this. I have a 71 Offshore v 18 that I need to finish. I don’t have an SS hull to compare to

Purchased a Sears Ted Williams 5.5 today

That is a techumseh power products engine on that. Nothing special. 24:1 is based on using SAE 30w motor oil. If you are using regular 2 stroke oil there is another mix. Pretty sure it’s 32:1. Keep in mind that it is air cooled.

    What's Old Becomes 'New' . . .

I recently just re vamped my fiance's old HP 15 laptop from ~2012 so she could have a spare. She quit using it after the local IT repair place told her it was unrepairable. This laptop is old enough to actually have service access panels to the HDD and memory.. I put a $20 SSD in it and a fresh...

    2000 Lund pro v windshields

    Not good. Maybe

Because I’ve watched that very video. Your relying on a guess that the thermostat opens long enough to dilute the water in the block enough to prevent freezing. -50 antifreeze works on a 100% concentration only. 50/50 won’t make it -25. Follow the manuals and drain everything

    Old I/Os = Money Pits?

I bought a 1986 boat for parts. It is mechanically good and the boat even looks okay at the surface yet completely rotted.!But it was in the water earlier this spring by the previous owner. Point is it’s mechanically sound yet a total basket case. It’s a 3.0 mercruiser

Thoughts on Sierra carb rebuild kits

For a carb gasket kit you could go directly to the carb manufacture. It won’t matter, but there is something about using oem parts

1964 Twin Outboard Starcraft Holiday 18'

Twin engines in the early 60s was kinda popular. High horsepower outboards were extremely thirsty and new to market. I think 90-100hp was all that was available in that time. So it kinda made sense

planning first trip to thousand islands

we for sure won’t spend extra to be on a strip or whatever you would call it. Honestly thinking that $2k is all we really want to spend. So like a little over half of that would be on a decent hotel. $3k tops

planning first trip to thousand islands

Oh we. Know the finger lakes well. We have been to all except Watkins glen gorge. We could split the stay between thousand islands and do the glen gorge and some wineries and stuff

    StarCraft Starcheif Throttle Control

You can use almost any mercruiser control you want as long as it’s cable operated. An outboard control box could also work as the cables are the same. New boxes require gen 2 cables

    StarCraft Starcheif Throttle Control

Indeed that is what I thought. It’s a mercontrol which at least StarCraft did use on mercruiser outdrives for a time. Sounds like it needs a full tune up with new points condensor, carburetor and compression check. It probably needs the shift cables adjusted as well but they do tend to be a...
