I have found many people just put the BIG battery switch in BOTH. And do that for reliability. I do not bother to discuss what they are doing when a battery shorts out.

Something to remember about slow speeds and sparkplugs. Becoming LESS hot enough to avoid hard starting. Now your getting into a bad corner. Slow speed runs cooler. Slow idle speed. LEAN setting of idle mixture. Thermostat running too cool during slow speeds......... You are going to start...
Why I always go down to the boat after a fair amount of ran. Turn on the key and check battery voltage. Then start the engine on fast idle. Then turn on both pumps with the 2 switches. That checks both pumps and battery condition and alternator function. (y)
A power stroke ...EVERY ... revolution will always beat a power stroke every ...OTHER... revolution. Think about the power from the extra burned fuel every second ?
