    Mueller boat hill repIr

It would be best if you can get to it from the inside, but you probably can't. For a hole that size, you'll at least need to fill it with thickened resin before it's glassed. If it gets any bigger from grinding, you might need a more solid backer...

I bet if you dig around in the bilge, you'll find some extra hardware too :)

Should I start a work thread?

Well, I'll have to figure out how to reduce the file size of my photos. I have a good one to start with.

Should I start a work thread?

I thought about that after. I won't post any shop info in the thread, but it could still be argued that this counts as advertising. I won't post the shop's info in the thread. Is that fine?

Should I start a work thread?

Since I work in a repair shop, I see a bit of variety in boats and damage. I could start a thread with pictures of what I'm doing. Would it be entertaining for the regulars here, or would it be too much like stroking my own ego?

    Modifying a 1975 Trail-R-Craft

One other thing, you want the rear straps to be at an angle where they are pulling the boat toward the front of the trailer. So where the straps are mounted to the trailer should be slightly forward of the transom.

Bennett SLT-10 Self-Leveling Trim Tabs - Vertical Mounting

Use a big plate on the inside when you mount it. I would assume they come with one, but you never know. Also, if the bolts are really long, don't stack a ton of washers to make them shorter. @Scott Danforth you forgot to link the thread.

Do you have any big cardboard to make some templates first?

82 Starcraft MR 180 floor, slight refit and leaks

It's a two part liquid that expands and turns into that foam. You putthe floor in, cut those holes, and pour the mix in. Depending on how wet the surface is when it hits the wood, it could stick to it. Whack some pry bars between the wood and stringer surface. If you can't pull them up in one...

82 Starcraft MR 180 floor, slight refit and leaks

I misread. I was thinking there was foam under the boxes along the side that you were referring to. Are you sure you got all the decking screws out? They can be pretty hard to find under all the dirt and glue. They don't use stainless, so the heads are always rusty too. I usually end up having...

Cut the foam into sections with a sawzall and get a flat bar under it. Be careful not to hit the hull with the blade.

For the ones on the sides, could you hook something under the edge and pull them up out of the way? Like a ratchet strap, easier and better looking than cutting them off. The one behind it, it looks like the too edge of the splashwell is welded to it.

Are you talking about cutting these boxes off?

    Prepping for gel coat

No need to sand the old gel off. You just need a good sanded surface, clean it with wax and grease remover, and you should be good.

    Sunpad repair questions

Any epoxy fix is only going to be as strong as the wood it's attached to, and that wood doesn't look good to me. Best thing would be to just replace the wood. Second best would be to get some stainless 1/4x20 T nuts and machine screws. Just know that as the wood weakens, the T nuts can come...

    Prime and Paint Aluminum Boat

I'm pretty sure 2k just means high build. The important part is compatibility with bare metal. So what you want is a high build direct to metal (not acid etch) primer. This will fill in minor imperfections, and give you a sandable base. Even though it says metal, it will adhere just fine to your...

    Prime and Paint Aluminum Boat

If you don't want to clear, you'll need to get single stage paint. It will cover sanding scratches better, be a bit more durable, but have less UV protection and less forgiving to spray for the silver. 3 coats of primer, sand it, then three coats of paint. Wait 15-20 minutes between coats of...

    Found me a project trailer...

I have a picture of me holding a tape measure against the hub and I did an eyeball guess from memory of the hub thickness. Shows how smart I am. Anyway, all this stuff about suspension components is above my head. I'll take measurements of other stuff if you want, but I'm out of advice to give.

    Prime and Paint Aluminum Boat

Primer first, let it cure overnight at least. Then it gets sanded, be careful with your orbital, you'll sand through it pretty quick. You'll have to clean it and go around with a light looking for any spots you missed. You could also rub it with a dry guide coat to help you see what you sand...
