Manifolds (Trying to figure out what I am looking at)

Just trying to connect some of the dots . . . "Manifolds were full of -50 F non-toxic antifreeze" . . . OK from winterization? "Fresh Rebuild" . . . OK, what cam shaft may have been installed? Marine engines with wet exhaust need really mild cam shafts. In a quick search I was not sure...

engine water leak (NOT Transom or Stern drive)

Leaks can be tough to find. Use your phone to take a video of the port side down low if you can do it safely. Is the engine winterized now? If so, you'd be waiting until spring time to diagnose and fix. I agree with the other posts . . . if the damage was from freezing, you should be...

    Truck reporting over hitch weight

There are some ball hitch scales that you can buy for not too much money . . . You can also Google how to use a bathroom scale to check/calculate the tongue weight. Going to the public scales may be more appropriate to get the total weight

    Truck reporting over hitch weight

Did you actually check the tongue weight?

    Outboard conversion w/out a bracket??

Save yourself the design challenges and agony of reworking the stern/transom. . . get yourself an appropriate sized bracket. There will be enough work in just modifying and reinforcing the transom.

    Mercruiser 5.0mpi w/yamaha outdrive

MODERATOR COMMENT: @kdc808 's several threads on the Merc-Yamaha issue have been merged as they are related. Sorry if some of the dialog is a bit choppy in the initial posts.

    Duel battery troubleshooting

23.5 volts sounds like marginal 12 volt batteries connected in series rather than in parallel. . . . it would be good to see a diagram though . . .

    Mercruiser 8.2 w/Cats & Closed Cooling Question

11 years manifold life is really good . . . probably brings the cost of the exhaust maintenance down to about $1,000/year. o_O I run in the salt with I/O's (sterndrives) . . . full closed cooling is the way to go, so the 8.2's are off the list (for me) since they are a 'half' system. On my...

    Windlass questions

Here is a link to my thread about installing a new anchor and then subsequently a windlass. https://forums.iboats.com/threads/new-anchor-and-bow-roller.647969/

    Flotation foam

It is a little hard to tell from the pictures, but I see more bad than good. Stringer (?) looks rotten.

    Windlass questions

Are you going to install one D-I-Y style, or have it done by a shop/marina? You'll want about 15-20 feet of chain and a braided rode and probably a claw or delta plow style anchor . . . 22lb. should be fine.

    Lowering the bunks . . .

We get about 5 feet tide swing. Sometimes, more like 5.5 feet.

    Lowering the bunks . . .

Here is our ramp being constructed in October . . . there were about 5 more sections to be added at this point. They didn't change the grade much, but overall it should be a lot better.

    Lowering the bunks . . .

Hi @Lou C I have not done anything with the trailer brakes, but the plan would be to go with EoH, bleed the lines, etc. I think the tow vehicle could use a brake line bleeding as well, Lowering the bunks seemed to work out fine. It looks like it is now about as low on the cross members as...

Maxwell Smart, "Missed it by that much"

Glad you got it sorted AD. (y) I'm on my 3rd microwave . . . the first 2 were Maytag brand, now it is a GE. All went in fine, with some adjustments to the back mounting bracket. The real trick these days is getting a new refrigerator. It seems like most all of the models are about 6" higher...
