Gas vapor out the secondaries at WOT

Does the exhaust exit through the drive or through the transom? How is the compression. Did this symptom happen all at once or gradually? I do not think you have a carburetor problem. Something else is causing the problem.

    Question on stern drive re-installation

2Xs with southkogs on the ball gears. The main thing to watch is accelerated wear which can be caused by forgetting to have the drive in the full down position or distorted housings caused by striking submerged objects.

    Help needed on OMC stringer

2X with Redrig On the water pump & ball gear shaft. When the intermediate shaft is stuck/rusted to the engine coupler you are in a world of hurt. The only way to get it out is to cut a hole in the side of the intermediate and cut the shaft with a cutting torch. Then remove the engine and unbolt...

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

I would pull the lower unit down and make sure the gaskets are mounted on the water pump housing correctly. Are you sure the copper pipe is in the water pump guide tube?

    1970 Johnson SeaSport II

I just checked with Crowley Marine. They have the most critical part, the pinion shaft that has a sealing surface #0382883. They do not show the water pump shaft but if the splines are still good it can be reused. The seals also are available even Sierra marine has them. The Sierra # is...

    1970 Johnson SeaSport II

What year is the boat? If it is after 1968 the parts are not a problem. Most probably the lower pinion housing seals, pinion shaft, water pump shaft and of course the water pump should be replaced. The 16c model came out in 68, previous model was a 15s.

    3.7 mercruiser

Pull the valve cover and and check for a loose rocker arm, you will have to bump it over to check them all. Hopefully you do not have a worn out cam lobe caused by the lubricants that do not have the zink additive.

    Inline 6 250, 165hp water in oil

Pull the valve cover and check that the head is not where the leak is, sometimes that is where water will leak through a pin hole in the casting. I have even seen water come up through a head bolt that was not sealed with #2 Permatex. The other common place is at the base of one of the cylinders...

    Mercruiser 165 shift cable bellows

Before you pull the stainless hinge pins you must first pull the small “nails” out that keep the pins in place. They cannot be drilled out, they have to be pulled. You might have to use heat to remove them. If you shear them off in the gimbal ring you will never be able to keep the hinge...

    My boat sank, part II

There will be water in the tilt motor. Easy to remove, the brush head is at the bottom so you want to open it up to dry out otherwise the springs will rust away. Good luck

How do I test a starter solenoid that's attached to a starter? (20' Shamrock 2001)

Take a look at the main starter solenoid, there will be a #10 yellow/red wire, get a test light and check if the light works when the key is turned to start. If it does not light then trace the wire to the smaller solenoid and test it the same way.

    My boat sank, part II

Mike I can feel your pain, at least the boat is still upright and you should be able to re float it. I am sure you will be able to bet it back running again. The local images around here show a lot of boats that are either sideways on the bottom or just on the bottom.

    5.0GL Possible Carb issue

It could be fuel starvation as the symptom you are describing. Start checking and changing the fuel filters. The only other thing to check is that the throttle blades could go past wide open and start to close. Pretty rare but it needs to be checked. Is the flame arrestor clean and not plugged...
