    Copy. Is there an alignment necessary when I bolt it back on? The first pull it catches. The second pull there's no traction.

    I am using the same rope as I was before when it was working properly. When I wound the spring, I lined up the arrow within the JF range. Once the rope is recoiled it ends in that spot out of the range.

    My apologies. New to the boat motor world as it is my first. I replaced the broken recoil spring. The pull string is now retracting as it should. The pawl is not engaging the fly wheel as it should. It seems to have traction on the first pull and then slips and is loose on the second pull...

    Negative. I used a small amount of grease in just a few areas inside the pull plate, but cleaned up any excess. Am I not lining up correctly?

    I had to replace a broken recoil spring. Once I reassembled the recoil plate, I'm having a tough time getting it to engage with the pull start. Seems to gain traction on the first pull and then slips. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
