    Power Winch To Sell

I have a brand new model 712 to sell. Craigslist and Farcebook Marketplace have yielded zero response. I realize that its a bad time of year, but I have it priced at 25 cents on the dollar. The last resort will be Ebay. I'm not trying to sell it here. I AM looking for leads on where would...

    Best out board motor lock

Sorry for the divergence. You need to bolt the motor on anyway, for other reasons. That being the case, install a McGard OB motor lock. Its won't deter the professional thief, but its a little extra protection. Take a picture of the install, so in the worst case scenario you can prove...

    Best out board motor lock

Castle Laws are nice, but all they do is protect you against legal prosecution. Even then, you better be prepared to jump thru a lot of hoops. Shoot a guy in your house and kill him and you might stand a chance. But render him a quadriplegic for life and you can be sure he will hire a lawyer...

    Best out board motor lock

In that case, if he only has battery tools, you better put a butcher knife or a throwaway gun in his hand. A dead intruder may make you feel better, but you have to fear for your life and prove it to take deadly action or YOU will be the one in jail.

    Best out board motor lock

My homeowner's insurance covers boats capable of speeds below 30 mph, or motors less than 25 HP. The coverage is free and its full with no depreciation. Exceed those limits and you need a specific marine policy. Works for me with my little guys, and my bigger boats are insured with BoatUS...

A few questions from a learner

Stingrays are propped from the factory for maximum speed with a light load. Your prop is not factory, so someone made a change for their own needs. You say the prop works well enough. Does it meet your expectations? Does it meet your needs? Wakeboarding with 4 aboard ain't too shabby. From...

A few questions from a learner

Look up semantics in your Funk & Wagnalls. You just said exactly what I said using different words. Then look up Post #1 Paragraph #1. Since the OP hasn't been back since Post #1 I'm guessing the first few replies answered his questions.

A few questions from a learner

If you damage your prop that has been happily in use for some time, yes, blindly repair it. If you just bought a boat and it has a crappy prop, yes blindly repair it so you can generate the data to find out whether it is the right prop or not. Tiny tack, gps and zipping along with a damaged...

    Registration with no serial numbers

In order to be hired at a DMV office you have to show proof that your are capable of making the lives of every one of your customers miserable. I understand how we all love to denigrate the gooberment, and in many cases its justified. But in some cases making people jump thru hoops is the...

    Towing and Launching

Your owner's manual will provide info re. your towing capacity and requirements for brakes. If you bought the car second hand and don't have a manual, google it and read it online. I know nothing about subaroos but none of my little cars ever needed trailer brakes for a boat as light as 2200#.

    14 Foot Jon Boat Identification

Its a semi-V aluminum utility boat, not even close to being a Jon. Its factory built not a kit. It looks like it would be suitable for 10-15 HP, a 35 would be suicide. The lapstreak-like hull sides makes me think it could be a Starcraft, but other manufacturers had a similar design. It has...

A few questions from a learner

Hahaha. If I take my prop to be repaired and the guy quizzes me about rpm and tiny tach and gpses I say HE was an incompetent shop. Having a prop repaired and asking for help deciding what prop I need are 2 different things. Asking all the Qs are the sign of a guy that merely wants to sell...

    Transporting a 20' boat on a flatbed.

First of all, a deal that is too good to pass up is usually a deal that you should run from. Secondly, if the boat is in good condition, you will need a trailer to use it, so why not buy one beforehand and get it set up so that it will be hauled without damage. Thirdly, hauling a boat on a...

Upgrading boat? - Boat buying advice

See my previous post. Your chop is a calm day on the Niagara River, where we boat. Yeah, certainly you might bounce a little, but we don't find it uncomfortable.

Upgrading boat? - Boat buying advice

I have been a boater since I was 4 years old, and have owned my own boat since 1968. So, I gotcha beat. We have owned outboards, inboards, jets, tinnies, woodies, inboard/outboards and even a rowboat. In 2018, just after retirement we bought what was to be our forever boat and it hasn't...

    is it to heavy

Acceptable, but not optimum. The guy I bought the boat from was an old codger that had been in the bizness since 1945. He knew his stuff, and set up the boat pretty darn good, unlike the computer geeks running the shops today. In later years I upgraded to the max spec of 25HP, and the boat...

    is it to heavy

Our 14' tinny with a 9.5 will plane with 2 fat adults and 2 skinny pre-teens aboard. Of course, that was after prop optimization, induction tach and data collection.

1972 evinrude 9.5 need long shaft or different trim?

Absolutely not. Waste of time. That motor is waaaaayyyyyy to deep in the water. It appears that the motor and transom are both short shaft, but something here doesn't compute. The AV plate should be no more than 1" below the bottom of the boat.

    is it to heavy

With a family of 4 we ran a 14' tinny rated for 25 HP with a widdle 9.5 'Rude. We had more fun and good times with that boat than the guy down the street with a Donzi equipped with twin 454's. I also do fine at 65 mph on the interstate when others are bored unless they do 90. Its all about...
