    1988 OMC 305 gm will not go over 2500 rpms

    Replaced points, cap, rotor, plugs, fuel pump, all fuel lines, h2o separator, fuel filter, new carb & siphon valve. Checked compression, timing - (is advancing), dwell & all to spec! Can the problem be a faulty shift assist module and/or linkage micro switch? Can anyone identify the problem...

    OMC 5L won't go over 2500 rpms
