    I found the problem after studying the wiring diagram. The purple wire which supplies 12 volt power to to the regulator via the switch was reading zero. I jumpered around it and it started charging.

    20 volts ac is what I get from the two yellow wires coming from the stator and the voltage increases as the throttle goes up. I’m thinking something must be grounding out somewhere.

    I have a 1989 Johnson VRO 140 Looper that I am wanting to swap out with a 1990 Evinrude XP100. I am wanting to use the same controls from the 140. Will there be any difference in the wiring harness?

    Johnson Water Control Valve

    I have a 1989 Johnson 140 V4 and my water control valve has a slight drip to it. I have a new seal for it, but my question is how do I disassemble it to replace the seal. It looks simple, but I didn’t want to break it.
