Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

WIMUSKY Been up there several times. This is from probably almost 25 years ago: Good to see that the old bench is still there :D

    A Little Drawin'

Been playin' with the iPad again. Thought I'd toss a couple more up. I gotta' go back and find the old ones now that Photobucket has gone so crazy (went on their site: it's a mess!)

    Rest In Peace Sam60

Just looked at this yesterday and was remembering the whole Corvette win. I'm so sorry to hear. I knew he was fighting the cancer, but didn't know it had progressed so much. God rest him, and comfort his family.

Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

Got tired of being in the office yesterday, so I grabbed my gear and swung by the house. Did my last two virtual meetings on the lake. Turned out to be a really pretty night:

    Build a Barge Workshop

Been a busy few weeks, so we haven't gotten much done. Last night I went out to work on it with him, and we got rained out. But God reminded us that this one doesn't have to carry animals, so all good:

What Is This Cup Affair Called ?

That's actually on the port side of the motor well, I think. Should be position "5" here - which is identified as a small control boot. I just can't remember what controller came off that side. (Maybe it was optional.) I don't think power steering would have come from both sides, even then.

    Random

What I did was (and I wouldn't do it the same way again): I cut the shape of the lake our cottage is on into a round table top: Then I stained the wood, added some vinyl (I should have painted it in there with inks, but I didn't have time). I set the table on some wax paper, and clamped it...

    Build a Barge Workshop

Ha! I actually made a similar joke to that when we were working on it. Got the motor well cleaned out today: And then we got the console column out: Carpet wasn't glued down, which is interesting as I think it was probably the original. We rolled it off with no real struggle other than...

Merc 3.0 won't start - but looks like things are workin'

Okay - today's adventure: Got things setup to check timing and rotate the distributor. As I was getting into figuring out what wrench would loosen the distributor, I noticed a notch. It's tough to see in this photo: ... that's a notch on the distributor itself, and it is aligned PERFECTLY...

    Build a Barge Workshop

Got a crack up ... for all of the stuff that is tired and weathered on this thing, the helm turned smooth as a baby's bottom: It's the original Morse rotary helm. But the cable is fraying and breaking out of the casing in the stern, so we will replace it: So, the rest of today was pulling...

    Build a Barge Workshop

Got back out to work on the barge again today. Finished taking all of the rails off: Pulled the nav lights up front and set them aside. Might see if I can convert them over to LED just to keep the old style lights on the boat. This boat would have had it's anchor light up on a canopy...

Merc 3.0 won't start - but looks like things are workin'

Well ... I'm simultaneously happy and embarrassed: the answer did turn out to be firing order, but I'm going to illustrate why in the event that any other mediocre mechanics like me get caught the same way. I had been checking the firing order against this diagram (see the original up in post...

Merc 3.0 won't start - but looks like things are workin'

I've got a head scratcher going here: '03 - 3.0 - Alpha one. I crank the engine, and it won't start. I have spark at the wires, but I'm not skilled enough to tell you how much spark/what kind I have. Fuel should be good, but to test the issue I did shoot some starting fluid in the carb. No...

    Build a Barge Workshop

For reasons of not needing to be, and not having the expertise to advise, I don't spend a lot of time in the resto forums. But, my father in law and I started a project yesterday, and I'm sure at some point I'll need some education/advise to get over a hump. In the meantime, I thought it'd be...

    Spun hub?

Hey guys: I'm not great at this, so I wanted to confirm that my diagnosis sounds about right - Towed a dude in a few weeks back, and things got a little scrambled toward the end of it (they weren't very experienced boaters) and I wound up catching a line in my prop. It did stop the engine. I...

Adding a Salvage Yard swim Platform?

The other thing to check / watch: my last boat had a salvage yard swim deck on it. And it was GREAT ... I actually like it more than the step platform on my current boat. BUT, you have a Stringer drive on there. The way that drive sits and tilts may challenge the position of the swim deck :) My...
