    Welcome to iboats Perhaps the noise is from the Transom Bracket, there are Reverse and Tilt Lock Mechanism that create noises. Can happen when the Motor has been used in the Shallow Water Mode.

    Both the Throttle Cable and the Shift Cable can be adjusted for Length. What gear is the Motor in? Forward, Reverse? If in Forward, can it get Reverse? Could also be a Problem in the Control Box

    You don't even have to run it 15 secs to watch the Shaft. The Exhaust System parts are at greatest Risk without Water to cool them.

    Rotate the Propshaft, and the Drive shaft, and operate the Shift Shaft, and see if the pressure Drops and/or Bubbles. You could also pull a Vacuum on the it, and repeat the Shaft Movements. If it passes, then I suspect it is just the Seals on the Drain/Fill, and Vent Screws
