    16' Sea Nymph console

Unlikely you will find a factory replacement, but there are a number of plastic and aluminum after market replacement consoles. Yes some mods may be needed to fit your boat, but some are very nice looking !! Because it is for a boat, they wont be cheap, nothing for a boat is!! If your handy...

    No longer made in USA

Just ordered a new prop for my outboard motor. Been a boater for over 60 years and always favored Michigan Wheel props, well made in the USA products for me!! I was shocked/ dissapointed to find a sticker on my new Michigan Wheel prop that says made in "Korea"..... Havent tried it yet, and it...

    Motor weight question..

More important is...what is the hp rating on the boat?? If you exceed the max hp rating on the boat you could be held liable in case of an accident.

    Any tricks for wire corrosion

When I use shrink tube, I always squeeze some silicone grease inside before shrinking the tube. As it shrinks the excess grease is forced out and seals the connection. So far no issues with any of those connections, some are 15 years old. Today you can buy shrink tubes with a sealant already...

    1969 25 Hp Johnny Rude/Kicker?

Two adults a baby and two dogs is overweight ?? Not on a 16' jon boat, probably has a 1000 lb capacity. I have a 2.2 hp Merc as a kicker on my 16 Sylvan side console, works great for trolling then a remote electric on the front, can steer by pushing a button..

    E-tec 40 hp

I have a cousin to your Suzuki motor, I have the 2.2 hp Mercury version. Mine runs great, starts second pull most every time. Use it to push my 16' SC and then use my bow mount trolling motor to steer while the merc is locked straight ahead. Love my little motor !!

    Fish Locators

No matter what you buy, it will be outdated in a couple years. I have only had cheap units until last summer when I bought a used boat with a lowrance hdi unit, it is a few years old but the fanciest unit I have ever used ! I have the down scan that is pretty cool, probably outdated by now but...

    Any tricks for wire corrosion

I can only say that I seal or coat all my connections with shrink tubes with sealant or keep a good coat of dow 111 silicone grease covering the wires. So far no corrosion issues after 15 years. I had boat trailer wires that turned black from dunking in the water. After sealing all the...

Is there a keyed hole on the front of the motor in the bar that goes across the front ?? If so, you can even make that connector, made many in my younger days.

    Boat with engine ($500 update)

Many dumps will also require you to cut it up, no whole boats, figure on at least 200 for the dump plus cutting up fiberglass is a serious health hazard !!

    1985 bomber bass boat

Looking wont tell you anything, serious testing of the wood is needed, at that age, unless recently replaced, it is sure to have some hidden rot. If memory serves me it is a glass boat and at that time wood was used for structural support, once it rots, total replacement is needed.

    E-tec 40 hp

Congrats on the new toys !! Last summer, I had to downsize and picked up a 16' Sylvan side console, layed out similiar to yours and I love it !! Mine has a Classic Merc 40 hp two stroke and pushes my boat at 31 plus mph by the gps. I really like the side console, hope you enjoy your boat as...

    Add a side console to a 1988 Lund S16-DLX

Popular motor, so controls should be easy to find, at least they are in my area. We have boat junk yards in my area, if his motor runs well, why soend big bucks for a heavy expensive new motor?

Fasteners thru hull of thin hull fiberglass boat below waterline

Never use silicone on a boat, especially below the water line !! There are good marine sealants that will do the job. Silicone is never more than a tempory fix and it will fail !!

    Thoughts/comments on these 3 possibilities

I would look for a boat with an aluminum hull, far less dry rot issues and they hold there value much better !! Any glass boat over 15 years old has an extremely high probability of having rotten wood somewhere....

    1986 gauges

Water pressure gage is a new one for me, been around boats for 60 plus years but mostly small outboards, never saw the water pressure gage used. What is it for, how does it work??

14" trailer wheels with 5/8" holes

If you have tapered lug nuts and they are large enough in diameter to safely cover the 5/8" hole you would be fine. The lug nuts should center the wheel. Not an ideal situation, but very workable.
