I was just four months old

I live in the woods within 25 miles of two major media centers. I easily get 60-70 channels of HD broadcast TV....unless its raining and or the wind is blowing at any appreciable speed, literately. If the picture fading in and out with every burst of wind doesn't drive you nuts, the endless...

    boat trailer calipers vs auto

Unless you go with a set of Kodiak stainless calipers, the outside protective coating is meaning less. Both will seize if moisture gets past the piston seal causing rust in the bore. The outside of the Dacromet calipers held up well. Little rust here and there but nothing worth complaining...

Strange frequency and voltage on paguro vte 4000 diesel generator *with video*

International Voltage and frequency standards are typically plus and minus 10% but have run into some weird situations with industrial power over the years. There are a number of VFR schemes on the market. The fact that it works only under load would suggest the VFR circuit is switched on...

    Seafoam vs. Marine Pro Seafoam

Used it as a fuel additive (carbon inhibitor) in the boat until I switched to an oil with carbon guard in the formulation. Add 1 oz. per gallon as a carbon inhibitor and fuel stabilizer to the 2 stroke mix for the lawn equipment

    boat trailer calipers vs auto

I have Kodiak disc on my trailer. Started with "Dacromet" rotors and calipers. Switched to KodaGuard calipers when the pistons seized a few years back. The sliders are stainless and ride inside a rubber bushing. Made it 4 years until the bushings wore enough to trap a bit of moisture. New...

    Lead acid battery. Two questions

The grp. 27 deep cycle batteries I use for starting are rated at 109 amp hours each. Gives me 750 MCA (600 CCA) of starting current. Mfg. calls for 570 CCA battery. When battery switch is combined, I can spin the starter with 1,200 CCA An automotive battery doesn’t carry an AH rating, but the...

    Lead acid battery. Two questions

Are you sure about that? So, How Are Deep-Cycle Batteries Different? The thing that makes deep-cycle batteries "deep-cycle batteries" is that they are made with much thicker lead plates than traditional lead-acid-batteries. These thicker plates allow deep-cycle batteries to be discharged and...

    Lowrance warranty

What are you calling a “reset”? Factory reset or a power cycle? Network connected? Same transducers on both units? Have you done all the updates installed? Certainly test your voltage (10.8 - 17 V DC) but power cycling typically doesn’t resolve a power issue. It will however resolve a power...

    2 Stroke Oil Thread

Through the marvels of modern engineering, both vehicles are capable of monitoring and displaying engine and transmission oil temperatures on the info display. Water cooled intercoolers and EGR typically keep coolant and oil temps within 10F of each other.

    Tongue weight musings

I guess it depends on how much you increased the weight and the draw bar rating of the tow vehicle. In my case, the trailer mfg. wants 7-8% tongue weight which equates to #350 - #400 tongue weight. The truck is rated for #500 tongue w/o equalizers. Would need to increase the weight of the...

Own two DI turbos......no need to "floor" either. Both produce max torque (470 lb-ft. and 310 lb-ft.) under 2,500 rpm. Neither vehicle runs any hotter than my NA vehicles although both are spec'ed to run heavier oils than their NA counter parts

Silliest Question on Fuel Mix - Thank you for your patience

Ran QuickSilver Premium Plus for a number of years for the same reason. Have since found Pennzoil Premium Plus to perform just as well for under $20 a gallon.

    2 Stroke Oil Thread

I’m too cheap for full synthetic and to hard on stuff to mix lite. I run 50:1 YamahaLube 2R racing oil in everything except the golf cart. The golf cart is designed to run 128:1. I mix 5 oz. to 4 gallons which ends up at 102:1 .

Source for bearing buddies rubber plug

Surprised someone so attainment about bearing service doesn't carry a complete hub, ready to install in their tool kit like I do. Easily put 3,000 - 4,000 miles a year on my trailer. Have never lost a bearing in 30+ years of trailering, knock on wood...lol Have Super-lube hubs. Remove the...
