    Mercruiser 4.3 oil gauge mystery

How did you test them? Would think you need to apply different pressures and see if the ohms change , dont know the ohm range off hand but usually if you ground tge sensor wire gauge should peg one way or other

    Grooves worn in driveshaft

Would also add the fill and drain screws, seals on those dont always get changed not sure if you have to take the water pump off to get driveshaft seal checked in the lower

Mercruiser 5.0LX Rochester 4MV carburetor over fueling. ESN OF066511

If there is fuel present in the tube your mechanical fuel pump needs replacement. as mentioned this will be pushing fuel from a ruptured fuel pump diaphragm into the carb bores… better than the fuel going into the bilge though. Get a marine replacement pump and you should be good. may be other...

If you think the fuel lines look bad from the outside I would replace them could be degraded on inside? Can you rig up a fuel pressure gauge to watch while running

    Mercruiser 4.3 oil gauge mystery

I think the alarm switch (which sounds on start) and switch for fuel pump are two different switches.

Mercruiser 5.0LX Rochester 4MV carburetor over fueling. ESN OF066511

Agreed- had a float with a small split on it couldn't tell it was leaking ... To OP -These could be your issues Float being gas logged or hanging up needle and seat too high fuel pressure I assume you have a mechanical fuel pump - there should be a clear tube coming of it and going to carb...

    Dam it! Wont Idle

Heres a video on it or the first one in a series showing rebuild. usually if idle circuit is plugged it will idle low or wont idle… make sure the linakge is not hanging up. I would disconnect the throttle linakge and make sure throttle plates are returning against the idle speed screw, look...

Exactly T it in by the sender and you can run it and see . Hot if you have 10 psi for every 1000 rpm you will be fine. to the OP did the oil get fuel contamination from running rich?

Alpha 1 gen 1 water pump

Would also recommend the oem parts as well. It’s been a few years, but last time I ran a Sierra impeller while it worked fine. When I changed it out, it seem to have a lot more wear on it than an OEM impeller of similar age. This is completely anecdotal, but it was my feeling that the sierra...

    Stalling and Starting problems

If it is running with the key off there is a problem and someone may have futzed with the factory wiring. The pump gets power i think off the starter during cranking , then off the ignition circuit via an oil pressure switch during running. oil pressure switch is there to prevent pump from...

    Stalling and Starting problems

With a fuel pressure gauge stabbed into the fuel line. im sure you can find some you tube videos of it. merc makes a fitting to put between fuel line and carb but its kind of expensive fitting. You can probably scab something together with 3/8 flare fittings and a t

    Stalling and Starting problems

Measure your fuel pressure should be no more than 6 psi. Make sure no power is getting to fuel pump when engine is off.

    Grooves worn in driveshaft

Pressure test and rotate the driveshaft. If it passes I think you would be ok this year. What do the seals look like- torn dry and brittle? I think to do the seals on the upper you only big nut wrench to get the driveshaft out and a rolling torque wrench to do. Lower may be more involved...
