    Max RPM@WOT 1980 Merc 50hp ????

    I can't seem to find a dealer in my area who knows what my max rpm's should be. I was running a 13p prop and getting 5800@wot. This seemed a bit high to me and I need a new prop so I hope someone can answer this before I make a decision.<br />Right now I'm thinking a 14 or maybe 15p.<br />Thanks

    L/U Final Disassembly

    Well I have my 1980 50 Merc's lower unit just about apart. I just need to know if I need to remove the shifter assembly to remove the drive and prop shafts. If so, is the locking nut on the shifter shaft counter or clockwise to undo. It's really in there tight and I don't want to wack it the...
