    Glad to hear it, that was my experience when i got my repower engine from them..a couple of missing and wrong items on my partial, were sent out the next day. i think the later vortec 4.3 cam with roller tip rockers so i think what you mention is correct

    Should be no play between rod and gimbal ring are holes in ring elongated ? Would need to replace ring, drill out and put bushing in, or weld up gimbal ring and redrill holes

    You don't need to bother with the trim sender (starboard side) its just for the gauge indication. The limit switch comes through transom housing and plugs into engine harness you can unplug it and jumper it then the trim up should work. You can test ohms on switch side of this connection but...

    There is only the SS rod to gimbal ring which is usually tight and the bushings that go into the cylinders. Take cylinders off and see where the slop is I had to clean out my cylinder bores with a wire brush on a drill to get new bushings in

    Would need transom housing as well as drive. is your engine carbed or mpi . Would need a engine driven water pump. I assume the chipped gear is the root cause maybe locking up the driveline

    all of it sounds normal, just some exhaust shutter noise the prop shaft play is normal, i have some play in my drive and trim cylinder bout a half or full inch. In the water it is gonna be pushed forward under load so not sure if thats new or not on mine was the whine captured in the videos?

    My first thinking is the boat weight not necessarily power level is at the upper limit for the drive. Might be worth a call to merc tech support. I assume none of the bearings locked up? keeping up with lube changes?

    Under his photo - 1998 2452 Bayliner Cierra Express 5.7L alpha 1 gen 2 I think we are thinking the same thing- 24 ft is pretty big for a single Alpha drive ? wondering given the OPs photo if lots of trolling is involved?
