Twin Merc. 6.2 Mags with Bravo 3 - EMCT Temperature Overheat Fault - Port side Manifolds (Only)

here's what my old OMC batwings looked like after 5.5 seasons in our salt water. Not to bad, one port is clogged. next pic is the later style 2 piece exhaust, see how much larger the cooling ports are....but they run at exactly the same temps....at idle about 100, hottest they get is about 135*...

Twin Merc. 6.2 Mags with Bravo 3 - EMCT Temperature Overheat Fault - Port side Manifolds (Only)

Here in the salt I’ve replaced the exhaust every 5-7 seasons & have avoided problems with overheating & clogging. On my old OMC one piece exhaust the ports were pretty small & started to clog between years 5-6. The later style center riser exhaust I replaced them with has much larger ports so...

Runs great on muffs but not in lake

Water is water your problem is no load vs load… yes the back pressure of water on the exhaust is an issue which is why final carb adjustments should be done in the water. The anti siphon valve is the barbed fitting on the tank that the fuel line attaches to. It had a spring loaded ball inside...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

safety & health involve more than just one thing....yes clean air is a good thing...I am old enough to recall the days before auto engines had any emission controls and LA was under smog alerts all the time... however, think about how dangerous it can be, to have a raw water flow failure on an...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

After examining those diagrams, you can see that there are feed hoses (part # 31) from the engine thermostat housing to the manifold and return hoses (part #17) back to the H/E. So that looks like a full system to me...

Alpha One II grinds in reverse

Sounds like you’re not getting enough travel when shifting into reverse. The key with dog clutch shift systems is to get equal travel on both sides of neutral. Same thing on my OMC Cobra. You want this fixed right away because the grinding will wear down the clutch dog & reverse gear to the...

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

Might have to pull the drive to find it could be in the exhaust housing or even inside the exhaust pssssge in the drive.

Volvo Penta Drive Belt - Lots of dust and quickly wearing??

If you slow the video down it appears that the edge of the belt is contacting the tensioner at the 6-9 second mark. That suggests that something is out of alignment or the tensioner itself is bad.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

https://www.volvopentastore.com/Closed-Cooling-System-Heat-Exchanger-Block-Exhaust/dm/store_id.366--view_id.1225287 Found this, it appears that it is a full closed cooling system, the return from the manifolds back to the H/E is via an adapter on the back side of the manifold where you can't see...

Concerned about Hull Config / Cramped Engine Bay

My 88 F/W doesn’t have a panel like that and all these years it’s been fine; I see what you’re saying but that is just a horrible design. The manufacturer should be ashamed! Forcing the boat owner to pay for pulling the engine to change a starter? Engineering malpractice I call it. Walk away...

Concerned about Hull Config / Cramped Engine Bay

Think about how you’d change a starter or even worse a power steering actuator (up against the transom mount). You can’t even reach the distributor cap! I wouldn’t buy a boat set up like just on principle. But, if someone gave it to me lol the first thing I’d do is take it to a fiberglass shop...

    Squeezing more from 5.0L 220hp

And sometimes you will find parts like that on eBay or NLA Marine if the parts have been discontinued. I was able to find almost everything (hard line, manifold adapter for Holley 4bbl) even for my OMC. For Merc it should be easy.

95 Mercruiser 4.3 water in oil

Both Merc & VP have used plastic covers that fit over the flame arresters, might be worth it to try fitting one of these, I have heard they can keep water out. Might also want to add a gutter to keep water from running onto the back of the engine. As much as using the cockpit & bow covers is a...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Yes it could I did see those thermostats and I bet it is because for a cat converter to work it must maintain a certain temperature, too cold and it won’t do what it is supposed to do. An unregulated (full water flow) exhaust elbow is going to run between 100-135* at least in my experience...

Vibration 1-2 months AFTER gimbal and u-joint replacement

There is also a special tool for installing the gimble bearing that is designed to only make contact with the outer race, using the wrong tool can damage the gimble bearing although that would probably make noise constantly. It sounds more like ujoints
