... and Cheryl. Rest well, friend.

Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

Saw the plume on the way in, but we're staying about 10 miles East. There were a lot of evacuation notices the night we got here, but they all cleared the next morning; and it sounds to me like the locals were mostly allowed to go back home. Getting around the area hasn't been any problem; and...

    Info on this boat

LOL ... we have a couple of fiberglass rowboats from the 50s that go fine. They look awful, but they just keep on going. The nice thing about that boat of yours is that you can pretty much see everything that's going on: if it's floatin' it's workin' for the most part. The 15 may push it a...

    Info on this boat

It'll be nearly impossible to know which of the manufacturers made it for Wards: there were around six of 'em. If there's no HIN on the stern, then that boat is pre-1972. Which means the data HERE will give you an idea; but not a complete answer. Boat looks like it's late 60s to me, but that's...

Need help IDing my first boat

If you can comfortably stand on one of those seats, and cast without that boat tipping - it's a "reasonable" simulation of a casting deck. I've been proven wrong plenty in my life, so perhaps I am. But I'd be surprised if you can do that comfortably, and consistently, in that boat. Could that...

Need help IDing my first boat

I think you can add some storage to it, but weight isn't your only concern with this boat. The beam is narrow on this hull. Adding stuff like a casting deck would dramatically affect the center of gravity on this little guy. You'll be more of a circus acrobat than a fisherman on it. That could...

Re-upholstery Job on Cruisers Yacht 338 Bowrider

You might be pleasantly surprised to find that not having that seam on the bottom is a little more comfortable too. Looks great Ted.

I'm struggling to come up with more words: it isn't quite enough to say Don was a good friend and I'll miss seeing him online. Fair winds Don.

    Spare Stern Drive

I think that's less of a joke than one might think. Lots of people try to cobble something together to save money. And I'm not sure I would avoid anything specifically beyond that: I have seen drives that live in salt that are well cared for and work right. I'll take that over a fresh water...

    daily music fix

Cool story. My family has always had art/music going on in the background. Dad was a good baritone singer. Like your dad, had a few cracks at it but it never went anywhere. To this day, there are songs that no matter who sings 'em ... I hear Dad's voice boomin' away.

0mc 800 outdrive tilt gear adjustment

To me those photos suggest something isn't situated correctly, or something is bent/messed up.

0mc 800 outdrive tilt gear adjustment

I guess my point is that the quadrant gear is a pretty stout piece of metal, that's bolted (with some not-so-sissy bolts) to another rather stout piece of metal. Assuming they're bolted together properly, then there's no reason the teeth of the clutch gear shouldn't meet the teeth of the...

0mc 800 outdrive tilt gear adjustment

Welcome aboard. If those gears aren't meshing properly, I would check the connection of the drive to the trunions, and the quadrant gear being properly mounted to the drive. If those are both fine, and the quadrant gear is straight - then I would suspect something is wrong with the clutch pack.

    daily music fix

I had played six strings up through high school and college. Had an old beat up Kingsford of Dad's and a cheap Cort electric that I bought. After college I wanted a decent instrument; I'd do live music from time to time and played with a couple of groups, but was never going to record or...

^^^ Good stuff. As a 12 string player ... I'd never heard of him. Fell down that rabbit hole for a while!
