ECT Sensor Temperature vs. Temp Gauge Reading

Update: I added the resistors and took the boat over to get some gas and give them some sewage :) I also used my FLIR One to verify some of the temperatures. Here are the gauges at cruise Here is the starboard Engine temp where the ECT is located (engine idling) after cruise Here is a...

    1961 Dyer Midget repair

I found your boat's cousin this morning . . . sitting right next to my dinghy. :D It looks like the sailing version, since it has a Centerboard Trunk and a hole in the forward seat for a mast.

ECT Sensor Temperature vs. Temp Gauge Reading

Quick update: I found a chart for the VDO temperature sender to get an understanding of the sender's resistance over the temperature range. As you can see the resistance change vs. temperature change is non-linear, but the 160 - 180 F degree range is of most interest. Since the resistance...

Tracking float side issue for bilge pump

Looks like you are on the right track, baring any deviations from the wiring, or if it has been altered by a previous owner, etc. You should see voltage and a physical connection of the wires from the switch and the float (red circle below). Additionally, when the float switch is activated...

    Other Countries Access Blocked ?

I received word through my web site from an iBoats member that is in the UK. He said that he can no longer reach the iBoats site, that it is ‘blocked’ I had not heard of such a thing. Just wondering if that is a country thing or if it is specific to iBoats, or operator error of some sort...

ECT Sensor Temperature vs. Temp Gauge Reading

Thanks BT. :) I did a bit of searching back through some of my pics from a few years ago . . . I think I found the answer to my question about the ECT vs. the Helm Gauge The ECT and the Helm gauge are separate senders located in close proximity, but slightly different parts, of the...

ECT Sensor Temperature vs. Temp Gauge Reading

I had a hunch that my temperature gauges were reading a bit high vs. what the MEFI module was seeing via the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. So, today I hooked up the computer to my engines to compare the ECT reading vs. the temp gauges at the helm. Engines are per my signature below...

    Preping Ford Explorer

The 2013 Explorer with towing package should have the hitch already installed, looking something like this . . . Just have to remove the bumper cover. No need to spend a dime, except for the 7-pin to 4/5 pin adapter ($10) :thumb:

    Today's Entertainment

We anchored at the usual place today. Plenty of sun and calm seas. After a while we noticed this boat across the sandbar. Appeared to be a man and a woman on the boat. I guess they didn't know about tides :noidea: At 5 O'clock, it looked like they had about 4 hours of tide until they...

    Bravo 1 water pressure issues

The boat seem fairly new for Bravoitis, but maybe. It does not sound like anyone has checked the oil & PS fluid coolers for clogs. I'd look there to see if there is a blockage. does the scan tool show the engine temperature that the ECM is reading while underway? Has the operating...

    Bilge Pump Help

The bilge pump wiring should look something like this below . . . Are there 3 wires coming from the bilge pump originally? 2 of them (A, B) would be for the +12 volts. One of the 2 would go to the helm switch and the other would go to the float switch. The third wire (C) would be the ground...

    Rinker V170 Restoration Project

A couple of questions for you . . . (sorry if I missed something along the way.) Fiberglass stringers (yellow arrows) Right? Have you done a core sample to see if they are filled with water or wet inside? Fuel tank (red arrow) Is it a plastic tank? Have you pulled the tank to inspect it...

    Bravo 1 Bellows maintenance?

Keep in mind that water will make its way in the area where the outdrive and bell housing mate right up to where the seal is. (see picture) If the seal is leaking, you will get water in the u-joint bellows. No water in there, no leak. So, it sort of depends on where the corrosion is located...

    Boat Launch Fail . . .

Update: Tomorrow is re-launch day . . . After I got the boat fixed last weekend, I used the extra time to shine-up the boat. My boat hauler called me to say that he didn't need the big trailer until we launch tomorrow afternoon, so he 'stuck' it under my boat for the time being. . . . OK...

Single switch for multiple courtesy lights

The circuit would look like something like this . . . Assuming the Red wire on the LED's is the '+' side and the black is ground. You'll need a bunch of "Tee" connectors to attached the lights to the main + and ground wires.

    Got a Big Tub ???

Since our summer house is starting to look more like a boatyard, we decided to get some big (100 gallon) 'tubs' (actually farm troughs) to run the engines during prep work, etc. Sort of a necessity with my brothers Yammy F-350's as they have 2 water pickup areas on the lower unit, so the...

    Boat Launch Fail . . .

Not the kind that you would see on YouTube, but . . . Yesterday was 'boat launch day' for my 33 ft. Formula. After dozens of hours of maintenance and prep work the boat was ready for its seasonal launch. The boat hauler was scheduled to arrive at 3:00 to haul the boat down to the boat ramp a...
