    Parasitic Battery Drain

Obviously someone circumvented the switch and wired something directly to the battery, or........... Are you sure about the current draw readings? A 10 mA load over 24 hours = 0.24 amps per day. 0.24 amps per day x 21 days (3 weeks) = 5 amps If a 5 amp draw over 3 weeks is killing your...

85 merc 200 black max overheat alert

Running over thermostat temps sounds suspicious but can’t confirm since mine didn’t have a temp gauge, only pressure What water pressure are you running at idle and WOT?

    Prop shaft run out spec?

My prop shaft has the typical in and out movement but no discernible side to side play or run out. No such thing as a tolerance of zero. Guessing 0.003 to 0.005" max.

85 merc 200 black max overheat alert

If I remember correctly the thermostats for that motor are 143 degrees. Either your stat(s) are stuck, your temp sensor is bad or the wiring is damaged or loose.

    Battery Switch question

The short answer....I don't need a "pump" to get back to the dock. Why no pumps? Your kidding yourself if you think a bilge pump will keep you afloat with a hull breech. In times of trouble, power would best be used to extend the life of the VHF to call for help. In reality, my biggest...

Was wondering if this is any good "Seachoice 15 foot outriggers"

Outriggers where designed for top water fishing. Typically used to pull a "spread" teasers, and baits out and away from the boat in an attempt to attract then entice the fish to come to the surface to feed. I used outriggers to troll two additional large parachute baits (up to 8 oz.) per side...

Was wondering if this is any good "Seachoice 15 foot outriggers"

Depends on how you plan to use them. My boat came with a set gunnel mtg. 15’ aluminum outrigger poles. Used them for a couple seasons and they have laid out in the barn ever since. Too light for offshore work. Use triple board planers Striper fishing.

New Lund electronics / autopilot questions

I know of no autopilot without a dedicated display of some sort. I view Vessel view more as a “digital gauge set” than a multi-functional display. If you want MFD functionality, have them install a NMEA backbone as part of the VV installation. That way you can pick and install (plug and play)...

1993 Evinrude Intruder 150 VJ150GLETR need help with diagnostics

The relationship between bad coil and the tach. No “easy” test but there are published test procedures in the OE service manual or you can try here https://www.cdielectronics.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/CDI%20Troubleshooting%20Guide%20-%202012.pdf

    Steering maintenance

Let’s start with outboard or I/O? Cable maintenance is a little different on each “Feedback” is friction. It would be a little harder to turn to there should be no slop, per say. Sloppy steering is almost always a stretched or damaged cable

    HDPE plastic for swim platform

Low smoke outboard 2 stroke engine oil

I alternate between Pennzoil Premium Plus and XD 50 depending on which has better prices on case lots at the time. Honestly, can't tell the difference between the two from a performance (smoke) perspective.

    Trim Motor not working/Radio static

A failed or failing electric motor will introduce all kinds of noise into the circuitry. Does it only happen when operating trim? If not, I suspect the diagnosis is flawed. Suspect you have a ground loop in the system. Typically short to ground. Real bear to find. Got lucky when my bilge...

Older Boats Not Welcome at Lake George, NY

What that tells me is that its a "full service" marina. You are not allowed to perform repairs, fuel the boat, etc. yourself. Liability issues Finding more and more repair shops that don't support "antique" (1996) motors as well
