4.3 vortec engine ( water in oil )

Cheaper would be junkyard motor, +/- rebuild. Mine cost $180. If you count the value of my time, mine cost $50k ;)

    1995 Mercury 25hp 2 stroke issues

I've got the mechanical advance on mine (interesting that the newer models are mechanical) so haven't seen the electronic in person. It appears that only the set up timing is adjustable, which is not idle timing. The setup is 28' BTDC @3K rpm, and idle is 4'+/- 2' @ 750 rpm. Probably not going...

Deep cycle battries and standard car battries

They're not designed for that and aren't as good at it, but that's not the same as a shortened life span.

Deep cycle battries and standard car battries

Using a starting battery as a deep cycle will shorten its life but not necessarily vice versa.

    Engine hour gauge

It's buried somewhere on a TB-V ignition IIRC. For sure not on the TB-IVs.

    Starting Issue - Twin 1988 Merc 4.3's

Is that with key in run position, or start? Sounds like you're grounding the port ignition system. Guessing you screwed up the wiring somewhere with the solenoid/starter replacement. What are the common electrical points between the engines?

2006 Mercruiser 4.3 no power to Fuel Pump

Not sure what you're saying here. Is the "sensor" the oil pressure switch? If so, the purple wire should be hot with the ignition on. The purple/yellow wire to the switch and pump shouldn't have 12v unless the engine is running, cranking, or the op switch is jumped and ignition on. Note that #8...

    Flywheel not engaging?? Mercruiser

Hah, totally missed that video. Yeah, looks like a 3.0. also sounds like the starter is turning. So new starter time.

    Flywheel not engaging?? Mercruiser

Don't do this. Don't know what engine you have, but safer ways to try to turn the mirror over. Unclear from your description whether the starter is engaging the flywheel and then not turning the motor or if the Bendix isn't extending. More info about the motor and history would be helpful

Hello all, I want to install a remote oil filter mount for my 4.3 V6, is it neccessary to replace the filter mount bypass valve?

My remote kit specs a Ford filter with built in bypass IIRC. I removed the block mounted bypass altogether.

Did I miss what prop is on the 4.3 with the 1.81? The 1.98 will need 2-4" pitch increase.

    Boat wiring question

If you're sure that the negatives are actually negative, you can just hook them up. If you have it wrong, those circuits may or may not work. Are the batteries completely isolated from each other?
