    I did check for water in the hull, I drilled 3" holes in the floor in storage spaces and it's dry, in fact I made a comment to the seller when I looked at it and said boy it's dry. The stern drive was replaced 3 years ago with the after market sterndrive brand.

    I did find find the vintage it's a 1971 . it didn't stall out after starting with starting fluid, I shut it off to see if it would start without doing the starting fluid and it didn't. I did pull the filter and the gas was cloudy and dirty so I'll get a new filter. I pulled the sending unit...

    The motor was replaced during the GM strike and they were selling engines that had no numbers, it's been a problem trying to find the correct starter. I'll do the filter and check the carb. thanks for your input
