FUTURE of TWIN Gas / diesel engines in boat , who can afford fill ups

Exactly, winter ,summer storage on a 30' will run you around 4,000 + - depending on location , insurance another 1,000. Annual upkeep 1,500 and this applies to sailboats as well. Now if you went through 600 gallons it's going to cost you 6 -900 more with street prices in the 3.50 - 3.75 range...

    what is make and model?

More questions than answers. What's your goal ? Speed , reliability, cruising , pulling skiers , trolling , etc. Are you thinking 2 stroke vs heavier 4 stroke ,which will affect what you can hang as well. I can envision something like a classic Tower on it ( but not in the reliability class...

Boat going in reverse instead of forward

He clearly stated inboard, not I/O. I have a Mercruiser inboard that is reverse rotating. Also have one boat/engine that the transmission turns opposite of the other ,both engines rotate the same way in that setup. Yes ,you are correct about I/Os.

If your " not in the market " , then.consider saving up while your deciding and purchase something at least built after 2000 .

    '84 Aquasport osprey 19.5' - Good boat?

Where in the world did you get that ( not unsinkable ) info from ? Yes , most Whalers closed cells break down over time , mostly the outside part that is in contact with the fiberglass bottom. Even a 1985 - 17' saturated with 150- 200lbs of water can be cut in half and will still float ...

    '84 Aquasport osprey 19.5' - Good boat?

No it is not self bailing. I have never heard of a production built power boat that was self bailing . Auto 12 volt bilge pump ,cockpit and topside decks above waterline with overboard drains, yes . Unless boat was always covered there's a excellent chance it's got some wood rot in her.

Water problem / trim tabs Q

Switch might be for trimming your outdrive, have you verified that function ? Tabs down helps keep bow down which helps boat get on plane quicker . At cruising speed the tabs should be even with the hulls bottom.

Water problem / trim tabs Q

Water pressure eventually ( as you go faster )pushes the tabs up., usually even with the transom . Main purpose is to keep bow down while getting on plane . The trim switch I would guess is for trimming your outdrive, need more info.

    92 188 Spyder ?

Here we go again ! Lets not confuse the OP and stay on point . He has two issues , loading up at idle and his prop in relation to max rated RPMs. This calls for a complete tune up with new , plugs, wires, cap , rotor AND not a quick look at them with a, " there good " lets throw em back on. Next...

    92 188 Spyder ?

^^^ This has nothing to do with your set up ,period. You ,we , have no idea what boat he has in comparison to yours, so the prop and everything else you can throw out the window. In order for you to gain RPMs you have to go down in pitch. So your looking at a 17" prop or possibly 18 ,if you...

    92 188 Spyder ?

Your RPMs are in the MFGs recommended range , so I would stick with that prop. Odds are your carb is gummed up and letting to much fuel in while your trolling around. Or possibly the choke is hanging up . I can troll with a 454 all day long at 650 rpms and never have a issue with fouled plugs ...

    1st boat incoming. Dumb question

Most boats over 18-21' have on board automatic battery chargers and if they are cranking tunes while not running all day , or cranking stickbaits with electronics on /electric trolling motor , they like to have freshly charged batteries. Bigger than that and you have AC/DC refrigerators along...

    Glassmaster Heritage Info

Mirror or cell camera will work in those tight quarters. Which is not that tight seeing you have a swim platform you should be able to crawl up on that and look at the HIN with your own eyes.
  17. M

    Glassmaster Heritage Info

HIN number should be on the upper right hand corner of the transom . They are not on the side of the hull. Last two digits are the year it was built. More info can be extrapolated from those numbers as well.

    Dead rise question

Hardly worth it to move up a foot .The extra weight of the hull in this case might be equal to carrying 1 extra scuba tank.

pricing my inherited Lund boat - advise please

With today's market [ prices across the board are stupid high ] and guessing the overall condition is well above average I would start on the upper end at 3,000 . NADA has it at 1700 , engine hp will also be a plus or minus depending on what's on it. NADA is just a guide , people do look at it...
