need starter for chrysler 70hp model 707hf availability

As raceone says check the flywheel key. Really easy to check, pull the plugs and find the TDC at top plug with a screwdriver. At TDC the 0 dgr mark at flywheel should point and line up with the 0 dgr mark at timing tab. Also check the curved line at the distributor pull, It should line up with...

Chrysler 1981 55HP Possible CD problem

Pull the flywheel off if you haven´t yet and check how it looks like. The magnet is a thin strip that is glued to the flywheel outer rim and it serves the stator windings charging the CDI box and battery. It is not uncommon the magnets get loose but then you loose spark. The trigger pick up...

Chrysler 1981 55HP Possible CD problem

Well, I have no more information to add now. I think you have to change parts by now as it sparks and suddenly change the firing order. There are used CDI boxes at Ebay, but better to buy a new OEM or an aftermarket by CDI Electronics. CDI Electronics part number 116-5301, but really expensive...

Chrysler 1981 55HP Possible CD problem

My OEM service manual Force 35 and 50 Hp calls for orange top cylinder and red for bottom cylinder. The 50 Hp Force has the same ignition system as your 55Hp Chrysler.

Chrysler 1981 55HP Possible CD problem

But if you can not connect the prime side of the ignition coil wrong cause the connectors only goes one way there are ignition coils dedicated for cylinder one and cylinder two. You are not able to switch the ignition coils. I believe you can swap the coils, that is what I remember. But it was...

Chrysler 1981 55HP Possible CD problem

This is a self generating magneto CDI system soo battery would not affect the timing. Only if the starter turn to slow soo the magneto do not produce enough power. Battery only for the starter and aux. The stator has windings, one charging the CD box (blue and yellow wires) and one for the...

Wiring a kill switch to 85h chrysler magnapower

Use a NC (contact closed when lanyard is in) lanyard and wire it in series with the keyswitch blue (ignition) wire and kill switch. running rough at idle

Removing old gaskets i use razor blades or a papper knife with a thin blade. There are gasket remove tools at the tool market, they work but be careful when you working on aluminium alloy. Easy to make scraps.

Chrysler 1981 55HP Possible CD problem

Spark at one cylinder but only 0,05V from both triggers? If you got only 0,05V from both triggers you should not get any spark at all at both cylinders. 0,05V from the faulty cylinders trigger, yes you have a bad trigger there.

Chrysler 1981 55HP Possible CD problem

Joe you would see the timing mark at idle and should be about 3dgr BTDC at about 800-1000 rpm. Timing decal is for top cylinder and you can make an own mark for bottom cylinder. Should be 180 dgr from top cylinder.

Chrysler 1981 55HP Possible CD problem

Maybe there are some electronic components or one component in the trigger ring or in the CDI box that will fail while it is getting warm/hot. As you have spark at one coil I think you can exclude the stator. If the stator fail you would not have any spark at all. If you are a little handy and...

Chrysler 1981 55HP Possible CD problem

I suppose you have the Prestolite CDI ignition system with trigger ring, CD box and two ignition coils. First try to swap the coils and see if the issue follows the swap. If the #2 cylinder loose spark the issue is the ignition coil. If not check the connectors for the trigger signals, the...

    running rough at idle

Are you going to replace both gaskets 8268711 and 826738? No extra liquid seal such as RTV are needed. I would put some spots of liquid seal at the gaskets just to hold them in place when you reinstall the parts/power head.

    running rough at idle

These bolts for the exhaust cover are a PIA to remove. They are small 1/4 in and will snap very easy. Especially the bolts in the lower part of the cover, they are exposed to the hot exhaust and will stuck really hard to the power head. Looking at the exploding view there should be...

Piston tool for Chrysler 75 hp 757HB

Yes it is as racerone says with the Wiseco pistons. If you bore 020 over size just do that. The clearance is calculated, but you have to check the ring gap. That is what it is in the instruction for the Wiseco pistons.

Easier to find and replace parts and much much cheaper. An aftermarket CD box from CDI Electronics is about 400 dollars!!!

If you get exhaust in to the cowl the gasket under the power head to the leg may leak. It can also be the gaskets for the exhaust cover or both of them.

If the ignition coil been replaced with one from a Roadrunner the system has been converted to a regular auto style system. You have a belt driven distributor system with points and condenser. The pre owner has removed the Motorola CD box and replaced it with a auto style coil and condenser...
