    35 hp Evinrude

Some food for thought. I added a starter to my 02 Johnson 40. My starter bolted right into the the block but some motors will need a bracket. I didn’t have a charging system or deep pockets so I just found a spot for the solenoid and called it a day. I use a solar panel to keep the battery...

    1993 tracker pro deep v16

Agreed with the above. You really only need to push the key for cold starts. By pushing the key you activate the choke. Once it’s warmed up pushing the key will only flood the motor. Try just starting with out the choke and if it won’t fire then push the key. Enjoy

New points not gapping, 1957 Johnson 35hp Javelin

I could be wrong but looking at the adjustment screw if it were turned counter clockwise it may open the points.

    johnson 25hp compression

You mentioned you replaced the head gasket awhile back. Did you retorque the head bolts after running for awhile? If not you could be leaking by and that could be giving you the low numbers. If it’s been a long while you may need to replace the head gasket again. Lap the head as well while...

    primer bulb

If you have fuel coming out of all 4 carbs then you likely reassembled them incorrectly. Check to be sure the clips for the float needles are hooked up. The needle valve should should move up and down with the float.

Did you have your carbs apart? It sounds like the floats are sticking open.

    J30JREE JET

From what I have read in the past most seam to be rated at the head and roughly 10hp less at the jet. But I’m not 100% sure about that.

    Air intake for a 1974 9.9hp Evinrude

Try wiggling the wires around while it running and see if anything changes. Any chance there is some lose Insluation in the cover thats getting sucked into the carb throat?

    Air intake for a 1974 9.9hp Evinrude

I was thinking the same thing. Make sure all your wiring is in order and no lose wires to short to ground when the cover is on. You could be losing a cylinder due to a short.

    68 Johnson 9.5

How big is the boat? I just don’t know that your going to get much more out of this motor. Your likely just under powered. I mean you could get into trying different props but even if you find a better match it’s more than likely not going to be that much of a difference but it’s not out of the...

    68 Johnson 9.5

If its parallel now then try moving down a hole. It looked like it was all the way down in the vid. Also these older motors were more about torque than high end rpm. You may just be out of luck.

    Spark plug question

Good day all I have picked up a 1985 30hp Johnson J30elcoa and it’s a 100/1 mix I’m not crazy about running that so I’m going with 50-1 but the plugs are fouling and it just doesn’t run as smooth with this mix. Does anyone have a suggestion on using a hotter plug? thanks for your help Tim
