    There is no thrust washer.----Remove bypass covers and inspect pistons rings.---Check connecting rod for clearance.----Remove cylinder head to inspect cylinders.

    Points and electric shift are NOT a challenge for some folks.---And do not require $100+ / HR shop support.---Just look at ECU prices and availability for some " modern " 20 year old motors.

    This comes under " lack " of maintenance.----Some screws on outboards must be moved once in a while to keep them from jamming with corrosion.----Even more important in salt water.------Screws can be dipped in a sealant to keep water out of the threads.

    Primer bulbs do not need to be hard when motor has started!----A simple fact mis-understood by many.----But it should go hard after 1 or 2 squeezes when motor is running.

    Have to agree.----I like slotted heads.----Soft stainless hex heads are easy to damage / strip.

    Everybody loves the 4 strokes.-----We need to see if they still run well after 20 years and if they can be rebuilt.-----Parts availability will be an issue as well.

    1982 Evinrude 2hp gearcase full of water

    Just 2 screws to remove lower unit.----Then remove water pump.----Driveshaft pulls out.-----And 2 screws to remove propshaft bearing carrier.-----Fairly easy to remove seals and push in new ones I think.
