    I took a 95 model 6 HP apart a while ago.-----Bottom crankshaft seal was kaput.----If there is one , then there might be more motors with the issue.----Sorry I can not see , feel your motor.

    Remove cowling.----Run with timing light hooked up and observe flashing light to see how spark behaves.-----Test both cylinders.---Clarify.----First you say lower plug is fouled and top plug fine.----Then with new plugs the top is fouled ?----Checked the thermostat?----Perhaps replace fuel pump...

    The earlier V-6 used 2 pumps in series.-----Look it up for a 1982 or 83 model.------150 / 175 / 200 and 235 HP.

    Not sure what electronic wizardry is on these motor these days.------You are right the neutral switch prevented starting in gear.-----But earlier motor had a SHIFTSWITCH on the motor linkages.----It cut out spark to 3 cylinders momentarily to make shifting easier.----Your E-tec shop if you can...

    If you put fuel into the plug hole and it did not " bark like a dog " then you have no spark or the flywheel key is sheared.----Should be an easy fix.-----But that is only my opinion.

    The deck and the " dash " are part of the structure of the boat.------Removing that would not be a problem in smooth water.------Not a good idea for " big water " fishing.

    The plastic wedge key will not last in a driveshaft meant to have a steel woodruff key.-----Motor overheat is an expensive thing.----You have tested the overheat horn ?----Online order desks just do not know.----Everything is just numbers to them.

    That motor is a short shaft , meant for a 15" transom.

    The temperature sensor just sounds the horn ( if it is working ) and it does not shut off the motor in case of overheat condition.

    Agreed---I thought grey was for tachometer in those days.----I do not believe there was a " safety shutoff " on a 1972 model 100 HP.----Testing the overheat warning horn on this 1972 model 100 HP might be a good idea.
