Oversized Valves needed for Mercruiser 140 3.0L

^+1, what he said. bronze guides are extremely common repair take cylinder head to real engine building machine shop. day later, pick up cylinder head and install. however the cost of doing that is about same as getting new head which is more than buying a newer used motor

    Used Maxum

its a 21 year old boat (which means consider it a project). so condition means everything other than that, Maxum no longer exists as a brand. it was a low-level brunswick brand (bayliner/searay/maxum)

    Water inside boat

first, welcome aboard second, remember, boats are designed to last about 15 years and be replaced as they start to fail a few items that can cause the water leaking as you describe: leaking rub rail that only leaks when you cut to port due to water splashing up the sides of the boat crack in...

    Wayyyy over propped???

goes to show how much BS is on the internet. your cranking PSI is ball-park your compression ratio times 1 atmosphere. so a 9.5:1 compression ratio will be about 140 psi. it was true in 1862 and when Nicolaus Otto built the first 4-stroke in 1861, it is still true today. from the Yamaha 250...

    Cobalt 232 swim platform repair

you made more work for yourself now that you cut the skin vs separating the skin at the seam. like AD stated, the force prior was only a few PSI over the whole surface, now its about 15 times that, concentrated over the seam you cut. you will need to bevel back the remaining skin about 3"...

    Cut holes in doghouse?

is it really slowing down, or just getting quieter? as stated, closing the doghouse would not effect the idle of a boat, especially as quickly as you describe unless you are moving wires with questionable connections. even if the box was 100% air tight (as in compression gaskets, etc), it...

Help! 1976 Mark Twain restore it or junk it?!?

and there is the rub. you will spend about $8-$10k on properly restoring the hull and interior (this years pricing, up about 100% from 2019 pricing) and that is assuming your motor is perfect. your boat in perfect shape is a $2000 boat restoring boats only makes sense if you love the boat or...

    Electric fuel pump

the octane of the fuel and the lead requirement are two completely different issues. octane is needed to combat detonation (pre-ignition). lead is used as a lubricant for the valves (that may have had a very minor effect on combating detonation) you need the lead or lead substitute because...

    Where to mount my transducer?

first, put the tape measure on your transom, and not 4 feet away second, mark the CL of your transom, put a line 15" from the CL. then turn your motor full right turn and see if you have clearance. if so, then mount the transducer.
