    I would say it is running on one cylinder.----Do a proper spark test.----Good spark from that magneto will jump a gap of 1/4" with ease !-----And you did fine tune the carburetor high speed mixture screw when out on the boat ?

    Correct ---your motor V-4 models did not have that feature.

    Some will argue.----But you need to start with a compression test today.----And not what the previous owner said.-----And check for strong spark on each lead.----Good spark on that motor will jump a gap of 3/8" or more.-----Testing is the path forward.

    Well if the kill wires were NOT GROUNDED the motor will run.----This motor will start and run with a totally dead battery.------You would pull it over with a rope and it will start and run with a dead battery.

    Any hoses leaking ?------There are a couple of water hoses on the side of the block.-----Should not be hard to find the leak.

    The primer is NOT a pump.----It is a valve that opens when key is pushed in.-----Advance throttle a bit.----Then push key in and hold it in while cranking it over.----Will give you near instant starts on a motor in good condition.

    The cowling tells me it is a 70 model.----These motors are just super in my opinion.-----First thing I do on these is remove the flywheel.-----Sometimes both coils are cracked.----Often there is a new set in there.

    Primer bulb has to go hard !----If it does not there is a leak somewhere.
