1993 Volvo Penta 570A New Distributor Issues

Your 570 should never have had points. VP engines quit using points on the V8s and V6s back in the early 80s. Prior to the 570s were the 260s and 271s which used prestolite electronic distributors Kenny has you covered on the pertronix trigger

Engine starts to sputter/breakup/lose power after warm 3.0 ‘98

i agree, most likely plugged anti siphon valve, or plugged pickup strainer, or plugged tank vent, or crud in the tank, or water in the tank, etc. all leading to the engine running horribly lean. when it does that, that detonation you hear is the pistons being eaten by pre-ignition detonation.

Prepping Diamond Tread for Refinish Gelcoat

I would sand it down and do your own non-skid. I used fumed silica to thicken the gel, rolled it on thick, then used a bed liner roller to make the texture. https://forums.iboats.com/threads/1988-rogue-2420.486013/page-9#post-3435737
