    Winterization of my Commodore 272

The batteries are from 2019. Unhooked and took down to Autozone. Voltage and cranking are good, no issues. Maybe the motor on the engine compartment door is failing? Still cannot find the fuse box. Has to be in the engine compartment I'm guessing. Nowhere else obvious. Still can't load...

    Winterization of my Commodore 272

Also, does anyone know where the fuses would be located? Can't find a panel anywhere including in the engine compartment.

    Winterization of my Commodore 272

I've attached some pictures as requested but site will not allow me to upload at this time. I have yet to get a direct reading from the battery but will include that next time I get to my boat. Running the engine at idle, I did notice that the engine compartment door opens faster than if the...

    Winterization of my Commodore 272

Appreciate all of the recommendations from the forum. Have successfully winterized several times now. Moving on to boat's electrical. I have only used this boat for swimming and cruising. I do not sleep on it and have never used the microwave, cooktop or refrigerator. The only thing I use...

    Winterization of my Commodore 272

I am in NH. Raw water cooled engine. My process is to drain block, manifolds, etc. Changed the oil in spring but did not get a whole lot of use this summer due to weird weather. I have never pulled drive.

    Winterization of my Commodore 272

Thanks for moving thread. Already added Stabil and ran engine before pulling boat. Tank is about 95% full. Reason I was wondering about water is that I finally brought the tank down this summer to almost empty after 3 years of ownership. Will check gas in current fuel filter when I replace...

    Winterization of my Commodore 272

I've got my 1996 Regal Commodore 272 on the stands and am preparing it for winter. I've done my own winterization the last few years without issue. But I have a couple of questions about winterization: Do I really need to disconnect my battery? The engine compartment is accessed by opening...

1995 Regal Commodore 272 dip switch panel replacement

My 1995 Commodore 272 has a dip switch panel to the left of the steering wheel that has seen its better days and is now peeling and cracking. I'd like to replace it, along with the worn dip switches but likely won't find this part. Does anyone have a recommendation for a customizable replacement?

1995 Commodore 272 fuel gauge inaccurate

Wanted to close this thread. Ended up ordering a fuel sender unit from Amazon. Installed it and now my gauge reads correctly. Thanks for everyone else's help.

1995 Commodore 272 fuel gauge inaccurate

Will that be true if grounding the fuel sender pegs at full?

1995 Commodore 272 fuel gauge inaccurate

Nice to find another owner. Mine is a Volvo Penta 7.4 GL single engine duoprop that we bought in 2020. I call it my waterfront property. Engine seems to be in good shape, although I'd prefer the injectors over the carb. I've done my own maintenance since the boat is in the water since I am...

1995 Commodore 272 fuel gauge inaccurate

I was able to locate the fuel tank and sender at the center of the boat, under the sleep compartment mattress. I pulled it out and the arm seemed to go up and down freely. If I rock the boat I notice that the needle jumps around and understand that this is normal for a float. However, I have...

1995 Commodore 272 fuel gauge inaccurate

I have a 1995 Regal Commodore 272. When I fill the tank, the gauge does not read accurately. The needle moves as the boat is jostled so I am at least getting a reading. Is it most likely the sending unit? Is this easily replaced? There appears to be a screw off access cover near where the...

Trim/tilt issue 1996 Volvo Penta DP

Not sure what you are referring to. It's possible the shift controller has been modified from original. There is no other tilt/trim control that I am aware of unless some unmarked dipswitch on the dash controls it. I will take another look, thanks. The lower unit will not go UP, whether I...

Trim/tilt issue 1996 Volvo Penta DP

There are a LOT of things behind the dash. Hard to get to and hard to trace anything. I have not seen this relay mentioned in the manual. Are you talking about a relay like those at the pump?

Trim/tilt issue 1996 Volvo Penta DP

The engine will not tilt UP so won't go to trailer level. I am following the guide as much as possible but I am not an electrical guy and there seem to be discrepancies. I believe I've located the point of failure. It is the blue wire going into the connector where I've circled. When I pull...

Trim/tilt issue 1996 Volvo Penta DP

OK, so the new switch did not fix the issue. Checked voltage to the relays. Both switch positions get 12V at the relay. But only the DOWN button works. The UP does not even click. It is difficult to trace these wires. The switch has a 6 pin connector to control trim. Two of the wires I...

Trim/tilt issue 1996 Volvo Penta DP

I checked the plate on the lower unit. It says it is a 3868299 DP-S. I was able to eliminate the trim/tilt pump. Attached wires to battery and then reversed it. Each time the engine ran. So, I can eliminate pump motor, eliminate relays and now have to focus on that up/down switch and line...

Trim/tilt issue 1996 Volvo Penta DP

Sorry, I may need a little clarity: 1. The dash switch looks like this one: Assume I just check for current at pump while pressing the button? 2. Could you describe how to jump the control wires? The pump is about 6 feet from the battery. 4. The product number and the lower unit is...

Trim/tilt issue 1996 Volvo Penta DP

I've been having a problem with my trim/tilt and would like some help. Hit some rocks 2 seasons ago and the lower unit would not lock down after that. In reverse, it would kick up and I would have to press the switch to lower it again. Pulled boat and found tilt/trim rams were leaking...
