    Easiest engine drop in replacement for 1986 MCM 470

    I don't have that much to add but... While I didn't do an identical swap, I did do a 3.0l to a 4.3l. Make damn sure you have enough room for the mounts between the stringers... 24" minimum and even at that, it is tight.

    Yes. It doesn't seem to be as much an issue on small pieces, when I rebuilt my engine mounts it was good after two days but it was also in the 90s out. While I can get the garage that hot I don't want that bill lol. And like, I have 35 gallons of poly. Why buy PL on top of that.

    Factory stat is actually a 160 on this engine. I will be switching to the warm manifold setup since this is a gen 1 drive. I didn't have any overheat issues yet but it has been reported enough times I am not taking a chance. I will be retaining the 160 as it seems thunderbolt V uses coolant data...

    Yup, 3m full face, 6000 series. I'm running cartridge/p100 combo so I'm getting the benefit of both, no VOC smells from the grinding and no particulates either. Ground that whole thing out and didn't even smell it. As a side note, I do Hazmat for the county. I'm overly cautious about PPE now...

    So for ease of working, My math comes out to needing 1.5 inches of wood on the transom for the drive to hit 2-1/8". I think I'll just laminate up 2 sheets of 3/4 full width.
