Johnson B-series Mystery Puking A Milkshake

Got a thin blade in between and started to loosen at the top end. Definitely splitting at the top. The bottom remains tight like I'm missing a fastener. Hmmm. J

Johnson B-series Mystery Puking A Milkshake

I have no model number. It is a straight 4, fuel injected 4-stroke from somewhere in the 2000s, supposedly 115 hp. The coin on the engine says 25 024232. Bottom cylinder puking a milkshake. I'd like to pull the cylinder head to inspect gasket and aluminum. The instructions and videos I see...

Silliest Question on Fuel Mix - Thank you for your patience

I recently acquired a 1958 Johnson 7.5 with the tank. The system looks good with the exception that the spark plug threads are completely stripped out. I am replacing the head. The fuel mix instructions on the tank say 16:1 (8 oz SAE 30 weight to 128 oz gasoline). Should I be using straight...

1968 Johnson 65 hp VXL-14B No Spark On Any Cylinder

Thank you. This may help me with the points. Got a service manual AND a Seloc manual. The Seloc is great. Gives you actual numbers to look for from components. Best I can tell right now is amplifier is not working. I get the 12v in but nothing out. Should be about 350v going into the coil...

1968 Johnson 65 hp VXL-14B No Spark On Any Cylinder

Hi. Been a while. Hope you are well. I am working on a 1968 Johnson 65 hp that has been sitting in a boat house for 40 years. I'm working on ignition. not introducing fuel yet. There is no spark on any cylinder. Found boat side of the harnessing good. Cleared out the mice and found most of...

2000 Merc 135 carb help requested

Seems like a carb issue. But be sure fuel supply is good; primer and line, fuel pump, etc... Running too lean: stall at throttle up, choke to accelerate. Any idea what size your idle jet is? From a parts list there appears to be (4) sizes to choose from; 046, 056. 058, 060. J

Need Help with 1984 115 hp Trim / Tilt Decision

It looks like a pretty easy swap. That's why I'm thinking I wouldn't even try to rebuild the current unit. If I can put one in as easy as it looks, I'm not too inclined to put time into rebuilding the old. Can you tell me if it is a 2-wire or 3-wire design? Thanks, J

Need Help with 1984 115 hp Trim / Tilt Decision

Hi. I am working on a 1984, 115, 6 cylinder, serial 6480282. The trim / tilt is leaking very badly. I need help with the decision to rebuild or replace. Can anyone help me with identifying the seal and check valve kits I would need to rebuild the unit? From what I see, I might need a Tilt...

    2017 Mercury 25, Fuel Injected, 4-Stroke Skipping

Model: F25ELPT, 1A25413EK. Serial: 0R795071. Starts and idles great. At throttle up it may take off and feel good but after maybe 30 seconds it will skip like its falling off and struggling to survive. Pulling the throttle back and waiting a few seconds may let you throttle up again but the...

    2018 E-TEC 25 hp Not Running Well

Thank you all for the information. As for how to hot wire the motor for checkout, are you saying unplug at the motor harness connector, put 12 v on the blue and ground on the green and vice versa? I guess I don't understand where to pick up ground path. J p.s., I have also found the fuel to...

    2018 E-TEC 25 hp Not Running Well

You can tell I'm old fashioned and not familiar with E-TECs or using a laptop to identify problems. I use a meter, compression gauge and spark tester and every now and then jumper wires. lol I'll need to do some homework and decide if a marina is my better option. I'm pretty sure something...
