    RPM surge at WOT

I recently got my 95 Sylvan 824e pontoons cleaned, drained, patched, and pressure tested. The boat went from 5600 RPMs WOT at 18 MPH to almost 6000 RPMs and 22.5 MPH. Running at 5500 RPMs in 6" chop I noticed the boat would run at 5500 for 4 or 5 seconds then surge to 5600 for a second then back...

    1995 Force 90hp bad switchbox

This weekend I started up my boat and it would not idle and WOT was only 4500. To make a long story short I was not getting spark on the number one cylinder. There had been multiple times when placing the cowl I have knocked off the top coil wire. I have read here that running the motor with the...

Repowering 1995 Sylvan Marine 24ES4 824 Special Edition

I have a 1995 Sylvan with a 90hp Force 2 stroke. I'm considering repowering with a Mercury 4 stroke. My Force weighs 280 lbs. Thee Mercury 60hp weighs 247 and the 90hp 359. Should I go with the lower weight 60? My boats tilts somewhat with the Force what would it do with an additional 80 lbs...

    Quicksilver Black Diamond QA2034X

I finally installed a new prop on my 1995 90hp Force. Went from 13p 6000 at WOT to 15p 5600. Big difference I should have done this a long time ago.

    Speedometer Tube

I have a 1995 Force 90HP. My speedometer doesn't work and the tube looks like it's going into the lower unit. Is there a hole down there that is possibly clogged and can be cleaned out?

    Water Leaks

I have a 1995 Force 90HP. When I cranked it up today I noticed water coming out of the bottom of the cowl assembly on both sides. Is this something I should be concerned about?

    Replacing reverse gear or dog

I suspect I have a worn reverse gear or dog. I have a 1995 90HP and it clicks and barely moves in reverse. The alignment looks right. How hard is it to replace one or both of these gears? Does anything else need to be replaced (gaskets, seals, etc...)?

    Force 90hp Hard Starting

My 1995 Force seems to take a long time to start. When I squeeze the bulb it seems to only have a small amount of fuel. It's the same on the 6 gallon tank or the 20 gallon. The lines and bulbs from the tanks to the motor are new (Mercury). Once I get the motor cranked it runs fine but takes...

    Force 1995 90HP won't go into reverse.

Hi everyone. I've got a Sylvan pontoon with a 90HP Force outboard. One day I went to put it in reverse and it wouldn't engage and I heard a clicking sound. I haven't taken it out of the water yet but I assume the reverse gear is gone. Would I be better off replacing the lower unit with a rebuilt...

    Thinking about buying pontoon trailer

Hi everyone. Hopefully someone can answer this. I have a 24' Sylvan pontoon that stays in the water year round. I'm thinking about getting a trailer. What would be the best kind? The boat is 1950 lbs empty and I'm guessing the trailer will weight around 1000 lbs. My SUV supports an OEM class III...
