    I have a 77 mercury boat 3.0 with r outdrive.I am replacing gimbal bearing and seal.Is the gimbal bearing a sealed bearing?It looks like you are merely greasing the outside groove and no grease can get to the bearing itself.Someone let me know.Thanks phil:confused:

    does the lower ubit supposed to have side to side movement

    I have 77 140 r or 1 lower unit.I pressure tested it seems to be leaking between the water pump and the lower case.Is the upper shaft supposed to have side to side movement.I thought if that is not normal that maybe where the leak is.I put a new water pump on it last year was filled it with oil...
