    New Stator for 73 85 HP

    Before i put the new $275 Stator in, i don't believe i have seen an explanation of why these things go bad. Are there any test i should make to make sure that i don't fry this one like the last (new motor to me, wasn't running due to "electrical problem")? Thanks.

    Replacement Stator, which one?

    I have a 73 85 HP Rude that has a melted Stator. Any harm in replacing a 6 AMP with a 12? I could use the extra charging capacity for another battery. Thanks!
