    One of my piston rings caught a port and took a chunk out of the piston, scored the cyl a bit and wrecked the head. What is the usual cause of this happening? The motor is a 1996 johnson 90 outboard.

    I have a 96 90hp johnson outboard and need to increase the idle rpm. How do I adjust the idle speed and the idle mixture? This is my first boat and I know very little about boat engines. I am very good with 2 stroke snowmobile engines and carburators and can rebuild them with no problems at all.

    wiggle throttle to start

    I have a 97 1700 lund pro sport with a 96 90hp johnson outboard. I have to wiggle the throttle control lever to get it to crank when I turn the key. What could be wrong?
