Nissan 40 HP tiller 2002 virtually unused

Supposedly started once on his driveway when first purchased. Not sure that it ever was winterized since the guy is deceased. How much would you pay for it ?

Merc Tracker 25 loss of speed after warmed up

This is my bros motor. When we first set out we get 20 MPH in the morning. We were back trolling after but when we would try to move to a new spot or calling it a day we could only get about 10 mph. Motor sounded and acted the same. No rough idling or smoking. This pretty much happened all week...

    Evinrude COWLING paintjob - 1987 V4 - taking apart

Trying to get the V4 and 90 off my 1987. Look like they are held in place by some kind of plastic pins. How can I remove ? Will they break being 27 years old and if so anyone know the part numbers so I can hunt them up hopefully at a local Ev dealer ? thanks

    Duck Oil (Swarfega) ???

I was thinking this would be good for spraying down my crank case to inhibit corrosion. Any product equal or better ? Can I buy it here in the U.S. ? Is this pure overkill ?

Anybody familiar with TELEFLEX CABLES 33C style ?

I am having trouble at the LINK & PIN ASSY. My Morse MT-3 Control sometimes gets hung up when shifting into reverse. Seems as though if the assembly would tilt at the same angle as the cable that would straighten out what appears to be the problem. Neither Evinrude or Teleflex have an answer for...

FLUSHING '87 Ev 90HP - sorry, I need to repost because I think we got off course some

My motor overheats when I use muffs to flush my engine but runs proper when in the water. I have replaced both thermostats. I was led to believe that there is a problem involving the WATER TUBE and/or the Grommet. I really, really, really don't want to deal with the GROMMET unless it is surely...

OVERHEATING on MUFFS but not in a tank that covers the vents - '87 Ev 90HP

Just doesn't seem right that this is normal. I was told by an Evinrude technician ( Don, he seems pretty knowledgeable) that there is probably a problem with the WATER TUBE or the WATER TUBE GROMMET. 1) Do you concur that it should not overheat on muffs with sufficient water flow? 2) It seems...

Kill Switch (lLANYARD TYPE) installation issue

I have the one with the 2 wires coming out of it, red and black. I have black going to common ground and red going to M ( magneto I guess). I think this is correct but what happens is the opposite. With lanyard installed it won't start but if I disengage the lanyard it starts right up. Common...

Rectifier/Regulator - Diode testing on 10 amp system

This a FYI. After buying new and used regulators that would not pass CDI troubleshooting bench testing diode test. Finally after calling their techs on numerous occasions, they finally researched and found that this test is irrelevant at least on this application. Something to do with a printed...

Repair - electrical - wire broke right as it comes into 5 wire connector.

Specifically portside engine kill wire (black/yellow) on 1987 Ev 90HP. Point me to some photos would be great. Has to be common. I'm thinking I need to pull and replace the pin. Any special tools or can I get away with the garden variety ? thanks

    RECTIFIER - bench test

Any reason other than a bad part that I can only get a DIODE reading off of one yellow but not the other ? Per CDI I should get a reading with a diode test one way but not the other on both yellows to red. I am using a Micronta digital multi-tester set at diode. I don't have an analog tester but...

Homemade DVA adapter - anything I can test it on to make sure I did it right ?

Trying to chase down non-charging issues ... right now (1987 Ev 90HP). Hopefully that will be all that's wrong. Right now per my adapter I am getting ZERO on one yellow to ground and .5+ on the other off the bus strip. Anything I can test on my vehicle ? This was a new rectifier and new battery...

    WIRING - gauges and ignition

I am working on an old Whaler. I switched out the Evinrude Control box with a Morse MT3. In doing so my ignition is mounted to the console. I am hooking up gauges in this order water pressure, voltmeter, temperature (1), temperature (2) and tachometer. These are on an '87 Ev 90HP. I daisy...

My starter went up on my '87 90 HP. Bendix won't pop up

So I ordered a used ARCO for $45 which came off a '92 115HP. I figured it should be OK being it was at worst the second starter on a 20 year old boat and looked pretty clean. On the other hand, I could of had a NEW starter from DB ELECTRICAL off ebay for $64. Thing is I know ARCO specializes in...

ULTRA TUFF - any tricks to cleaning after a long winter cover up ?

Kind of regretting putting Ultra toff on, at least the heavy aggregate on the entirety of my 16' Whaler. It does cover up the cosmetic flaws but is a ***** to clean. Any tricks ? I am using Simply Green with mediocre results. Too bad they say not to use bleach. My color is a Teal.

    Temperature switch - 1987 90HP Ev - how do you pull ( part # 0386686) ?

I was running too hot (around 220 per my added temp head senders), but they would not sound. I tested against block and they BOTH work electrically. I want to pull, clean up/examine and then test. What is the proper way to pull these out ? BTW - in the water no problem but on muffs is the...

    Evinrude XD30 or XD50 for 1987 90HP

Disconnected VRO. I still need to go thru a few gallons of Quicksilver Premium Plus but just wanted to know if XD50 is worth the extra money over the XD30.

Wire splicing - to solder or heat shrink connectors ?

A couple are crappy at the terminal bar. They are from the harness side. They purple one and the red/purple wires were dry rotted and are full of corrosion. I figure if I cut them back far enough, I'll lose a lot of the corrosion.
