    motor runs but wont idle

    1989 johnson outboard 120 hp just replaced rectifier, prior to replacing it motor ran great just wasnt charging battery,,,now motor will start and run at a high idle but as soon as i throttle down motor shuts off, try and restart with idle set down motor will start and run for about 3 seconds...
