    need help dropping foot

    I have a 1988 mercury 9.9. it is stuck in reverse. someone said I needed to repair the cable and pull prop shaft out of the lower to reset shift pin. does this sound right? I'm new to outboards!     9.9 stuck in reverse

    I have a 1988 mercury 9.9. The linkage started coming off a few times when shifting from gears so I headed for the landing. Now it's stuck in reverse. Any ideas what it could be?
