    When cold starting the 70 is not firing on one cyl. If I speed it up after a bit it will pick up the cyl. and idle OK. After the engine is warmed up it runs OK. Back firing through carbs!!

    Fresh powerhead good compression. Ran great till yesterday while out on Erie. Started idling rough up to about 2500 RPM's then it runs great. To get it back to the ramp {idle zone} I had to keep hitting the primer in doing so it would idle up for a bit then again start to die. Sounded like it...

    1989 70 hp Bearing housing assy. w/pic

    My bearing housing has a chip out of it and leaks, repair manual calls for 397188 part. Is there others that will fit this motor? Or can this be repaired?

    Was wondering what the difference is between 1984 0394810 carbs and 1989 early prod. 0431982 carbs. Trying to get the 89 to idle better.

    70HP carb compatability?

    I have a 1989 70TLCEM with fixed jet carbs, found a set of 1984 70hp carbs with adjustable jets for cheap. Will these work on my 1989 with no preformance loss? My carbs need a rebuild as I am sure the 84's do also.

    Carb to intake gaskets???

    The gaskets between my carbs and the intake are smaller than the opening in the intake manifold will this cause a problem?

    New thermostat-over heating

    Replaced the stuck thermostat in my J70TLCEM and while running it on muffs it overheated. Can too much water pressure from the hose cause this?

    All vacumn checked and good, carbs rebuilt, timing and link and sync. set. Compression 85#'s Is it shot? Just need to get by this summer.
