    1975 70 johnson why it dies when exhaust is under water

    MY ENGINE WILL DIE WHEN YOU PUT THE PROP IN WATER OTHERWISE IT RUNS FINE . IT WILL IDLE UNDER WATER BUT WONT RUN IN GEAR BUT WILL IF THE PROP IS NOT SUBMERGERED IN WATER . ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED . :)

    my problem is the engine will crank and run fine but when you go to put it in gear the engine dies. when you put it in gear out of water it goes in just fine, forward and reverse.i tried idling it up and it still dies. im afraid to go any further on idle speed because it might damage...

    1975 johnson 70 hp fuel delivery

    im having a problem getting the engine to pull fuel from the carbs. i checked the bowls and there all full.i checked fuel pressure and it seems to be getting good fuel pressure.i sprayed quick start around the out side areas to make sure there is no vaccum leaks.i had all 3 carbs off and cleaned...
